About the role
We are seeking a Fulltime Barista to join our team at Room10 in Potts Point, NSW 2011. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic hospitality environment. As a Barista, you will be the face of our café, responsible for crafting high-quality beverages and creating memorable experiences for our customers. This role is central to our operation, requiring you to combine technical expertise with genuine customer service skills to maintain the standards that our guests have come to expect.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing and serving a variety of espresso-based drinks, speciality coffees, and other beverages to the highest standard
- Operating and maintaining espresso machines and other café equipment in compliance with safety and hygiene standards
- Taking customer orders accurately and processing payments using point-of-sale systems
- Ensuring the café counter and work areas remain clean, organised and hygienic at all times
- Greeting customers warmly and providing personalised service recommendations based on their preferences
- Building positive relationships with regular customers and contributing to a welcoming café atmosphere
- Restocking supplies, managing inventory and assisting with stock rotation as required
- Collaborating effectively with team members to ensure smooth service during peak periods
- Supporting the team with general café duties including food preparation,
presentation and serving where applicable
- Adhering to all health, safety and food handling regulations
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a Barista or in a similar café or beverage service role, preferably in a busy hospitality setting
- Sound knowledge of espresso machines, coffee brewing techniques and milk steaming procedures
- Strong understanding of different coffee varieties, origins and flavour profiles
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining consistent quality in every beverage prepared
- Ability to work efficiently during peak service times while maintaining composure under pressure
- Strong hygiene and food safety awareness
- Reliable, punctual and committed to teamwork
- Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude
- Current Food Handling Certificate or willingness to obtain one
- Flexibility to work a full-time roster that may include early mornings, weekends and public holidays
- Experience in a specialty coffee environment or barista qualifications (such as SCA certification) would be advantageous
