About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Geospatial Data Analyst to join their fully remote team, supporting their growing renewable energy initiatives, with a focus on projects in the Eastern Cape . This role is integral to identifying optimal locations for renewable energy installations, analyzing environmental factors, and managing spatial data essential for project planning and execution. You will leverage advanced GIS tools and data analysis techniques to provide critical insights that drive strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities

- Develop and manage geospatial databases for renewable energy project development.
- Analyze spatial data to identify suitable sites for solar, wind, and other renewable energy installations.
- Conduct environmental suitability assessments using GIS, considering factors like topography, land use, and proximity to infrastructure.
- Create detailed maps, visualizations, and reports to support site selection and project planning.
- Integrate various data sources, including satellite imagery, aerial photography, and cadastral data.




- Collaborate remotely with project managers, engineers, and environmental specialists to provide data-driven recommendations.
- Perform spatial analysis to support grid connection feasibility studies and resource assessments.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in geospatial analysis, preferably within the energy sector or environmental planning.
- Proficiency with GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, and related extensions.
- Experience with data manipulation and analysis using tools like Python (with libraries like GeoPandas) or R.
- Strong understanding of remote sensing principles and image analysis.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
