Disability Support Worker - Aboriginal participant in Townsville QLD

NepEve Care Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team in Townsville, QLD. This is a Casual position offering flexibility to support individuals with disabilities in our community. In this role, you will provide essential support to Aboriginal participants, helping them achieve greater independence, social inclusion, and improved quality of life. This position is strategically important to our organisation's mission of delivering person-centred, culturally sensitive disability support services that empower our participants to live fulfilling lives within the Townsville community.

Key responsibilities

Provide direct personal care and support to Aboriginal participants with disabilities, including assistance with daily living activities and personal hygiene

Support participants in accessing community activities, social events and recreational opportunities to promote social inclusion

Assist participants with mobility, transportation and accessing local services and facilities

Build positive relationships with participants based on trust, respect and cultural understanding

Support participants in developing life skills and working towards their personal goals and aspirations

Communicate effectively with participants, families, carers and other support team members

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of support provided and any observations or concerns

Comply with the NDIS Code of Conduct, NDIS Practice Standards (where applicable), organisational policies and procedures, and participant-specific support plans.





Contribute to a culturally sensitive and inclusive support setting that respects Aboriginal values and practices

Undertake training and professional development as required to maintain competency in disability support

What we’re looking for

Certificate III or Certificate IV in Disability Support Services, or equivalent relevant qualification desirable

Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, or willingness and eligibility to obtain one

Current First Aid and CPR certification

Demonstrated experience working with people with disabilities in a support or care role

Experience supporting people with disability, including people with mental health conditions, intellectual disability and/or alcohol and other drug-related support needs.

Strong cultural awareness and commitment to working respectfully with Aboriginal communities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build genuine relationships

Ability to safely perform the physical and personal-care duties inherent to the role, including assisting participants with mobility, transfers and daily living activities, with appropriate training and equipment.

Reliability, punctuality and the ability to work independently and as part of a team

A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable people and promoting their independence and wellbeing





Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations

Current Driver’s Licence is preferred to assist with participant transport and access to community activities

Blue Card, or willingness and eligibility to obtain one, if the role involves working with children
