ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Raw Materials Team Leader , you will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and performance of the Raw Materials team, ensuring raw materials are prepared and supplied to downstream production areas safely, efficiently and to the required specification.
Working closely with Production, QA, Engineering and Planning, you will play a key role in executing the daily production plan, managing labour and priorities, monitoring yield and ensuring production requirements are consistently achieved.
This is a hands‑on leadership role suited to an experienced meat industry professional who understands raw material flow, knife skills, primal yields and production processes, and can use this experience to lead a team and drive continuous improvement.
Your day to day responsibilities will include:
- Execute the daily production plan by allocating team members to tasks based on production priorities, skill levels and labour requirements.
- Own the daily flow and availability of raw materials, ensuring downstream production areas are supplied with the correct quantity, specification and timeframe.
- Monitor production performance against planned volumes, labour requirements, yield, quality and efficiency, proactively identifying and escalating risks.
- Monitor and improve daily yield performance, identifying yield losses, excessive trim, giveaway and processing variances and implementing corrective actions.
- Direct and prioritise work throughout the shift to maintain productivity and ensure downstream production lines remain continuously supplied.
- Lead,
coach and develop team members through effective communication, on‑the‑job training and performance feedback.
- Ensure employees are trained, competent and authorised to safely operate relevant machinery, equipment and processes, with a strong focus on knife handling and machine operation.
- Maintain high standards of knife safety and cutting practices across the Raw Materials team.
- Monitor machine and equipment performance, accurately record downtime and work with Engineering to minimise disruption and prevent recurring issues.
- Identify and resolve production issues promptly, taking ownership of corrective actions and escalating where required.
- Ensure product quality and food safety requirements are consistently met, including product specifications, work instructions, GMP and HACCP/CCP requirements.
- Complete all required production, quality, yield, labour and shift documentation accurately and on time.
- Drive continuous improvement opportunities across yield, labour efficiency, productivity, safety, quality and material flow.
- Work collaboratively with Production, QA, Engineering, Planning and other departments to ensure production requirements are achieved.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organised and efficient work environment, ensuring housekeeping, 5S and workplace safety standards are maintained.
To be successful, you will have:
- Minimum two years' experience in a meat processing environment , with experience across beef, lamb and chicken .
- Demonstrated and highly competent knife skills , including knife sharpening and skilled meat processing.
- Strong knowledge of primal cuts and yields , with demonstrated experience identifying yield losses and implementing improvements.
- Sound understanding of raw material flow,
production processes and the relationship between raw material preparation and downstream production.
- Previous experience leading, supervising or coordinating a team in a meat processing or production environment.
- Experience working with production machinery and a strong understanding of safe machine operation.
- Solid understanding of knife safety, food safety, quality and workplace safety requirements.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to take ownership of issues and implement timely corrective actions.
- The ability to analyse production and yield information and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Confidence communicating with, coaching and supporting a diverse workforce.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced production environment and manage competing priorities.
- Reliability, a strong work ethic and a commitment to achieving production, quality and safety outcomes.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and team development.

Monday to Friday
5:30am - 1:46pm
Start times may be earlier depending on production requirements.
Potential for overtime.
REMUNERATION
$36.34 per hour + potential overtime
