We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Cook to join our culinary team and help us continue providing an exceptional dining experience.

Duties & Responsibilities n

n
- Inspect fresh produce and pantry supplies upon delivery to guarantee high quality for all New Leaf Cafe menu offerings.
n
- Regulate and monitor temperatures of kitchen grills, ovens and cooktops to maintain consistent food preparation standards.
n
- Prepare and cook cafe breakfasts, light meals, sandwiches and daily lunch specials according to standard cafe recipes.
n




- Season dishes accurately during cooking to maintain the distinct flavour profiles of our menu.
n
- Portion and plate food neatly with house sauces and garnishes to ensure clean, appealing meal presentation.
n
- Store raw ingredients and prepared prep work in temperature-controlled chillers with strict labelling and stock rotation (FIFO).
n
- Safely prepare customized orders to accommodate customers' special dietary needs or allergen requirements.
n
- Assist in estimating daily food prep requirements and offering input for upcoming seasonal cafe specials.
n
- Guide and support junior kitchen staff and apprentices on food prep procedures and kitchen safety practices.
n

Qualification nn
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (preferred but not required).
n

Other Skills & Requirements nn
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Cook in a cafe or casual dining restaurant.
n
- Solid understanding of food safety, health codes and proper equipment handling.
n
- Ability to work quick and efficiently during busy morning and lunch shifts.
n
- Strong commitment to food quality, cleanliness and presentation.
