This is a 24 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2027 with possible extension and/or permanency.

At Northam Primary School (PS), we cater for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and currently have just over 300 students. Our students come from the local town and from the outlying farms and rural properties.

The Role

We are looking for a collaborative and dedicated professional who displays exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, values strong relationships with staff, students, and families, and is committed to achieving the best possible educational outcomes for all students.

The Associate Principal will work closely with the Leadership Team and staff to foster a school‑wide, growth‑focused culture. The successful candidate will ideally display their commitment to enhancing this culture by showcasing how they contribute to:

- Enhancing teacher effectiveness by leading Mathematics curriculum development and providing teacher support.
- Leading and supporting Professional Learning Communities, utilising student learning data to drive improvement cycles.




- Implementing high‑impact teaching strategies and evidence‑based interventions informed by Teaching for Impact.
- Enriching distributed leadership by empowering and mentoring others.
- Leading the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Committee to strengthen culturally responsive practice, improve outcomes for Aboriginal students, and embed Aboriginal perspectives across the school.

The successful applicant should have the skills and experience to lead and support the 3-6 Phase of Learning Team. At Northam PS, this role involves promoting evidence‑based pedagogy, explicit teaching, and differentiated teaching and learning programs. The Associate Principal’s role also includes line management, leadership responsibilities for Years 3‑6, and strategic planning to best utilise human resources to support the diverse needs of the student cohort.

In implementing whole‑school approaches, the Associate Principal will leverage their expertise in Positive Behaviour Support, successfully fostering positive, restorative outcomes for students with challenging behaviours.
