The Chance

Our client is a well established global mining business with operations and group entities across Australia. Due to continued activity, they are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join their Brisbane CBD based Group Accounting team.

Reporting to the Manager Group Accounting, you will deliver accurate and timely corporate accounting and regulatory compliance across the Group entities. You will provide experienced technical coverage across month end, consolidation, compliance and management reporting, and contribute to the corporate budgeting cycle.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare month end journals including payroll recharges, intercompany charges and commodity hedging
- Complete the monthly consolidation of Group entity results and assist with upstream reporting
- Run and reconcile foreign currency revaluations, and resolve intercompany transaction errors
- Monitor and reconcile clearing accounts and complete the monthly roll over of AP, AR, inventory and GL




- Prepare and review regulatory returns including BAS, FBT and land tax
- Maintain lease schedules and lease accounting for assigned Group entities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual corporate management reports, including variance analysis
- Assist with the preparation of corporate budgets
- Support year end, JV and JSOX audits
- Contribute to projects, new process implementation and continuous improvement across the finance function

About You

- CA or CPA qualified, with a tertiary qualification in Accounting or Commerce
- 5 to 10 years' experience in a commercial accounting environment
- Strong technical skills across consolidation, intercompany, FX and month end reporting
- Exposure to mining or resources and an understanding of the mining value chain is highly regarded
- Advanced Excel skills, with Pronto or a similar ERP
