About the clinic

Back To Life Clinic is an integrated clinic where Chinese medicine, physiotherapy and exercise physiology work from one shared plan for each patient. Allied health looks after structure. Chinese medicine looks after function, the things you can’t see on a scan. Each has its place, and patients do best when their clinicians talk to each other. In November we move into our own street-level clinic, designed around how we practise, with a full herbal dispensary.

Purpose of the role

To provide Chinese medicine care (acupuncture and herbal medicine) as part of an integrated team, and to help each patient understand their own body well enough to take ownership of their health.

- Assess and treat your own list of patients with acupuncture and herbal medicine, and dispense from the clinic dispensary.
- Share patients with our physiotherapists and exercise physiologist, and write one joint plan with them: the goal, how often each of you sees the patient, and when you review.
- Explain what you find and what you are doing in plain language, so patients leave understanding more than when they came in.
- Keep explicit clinical notes, completed the same day.
- Stay in touch with patients between visits when it helps them, by call or message.




- Take part in case discussions and team meetings, and help shape how we do things as we write our clinic processes.

What we look for

Essential

- AHPRA registration as a Chinese medicine practitioner, in both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.
- Two or more years in practice preferred.
- You explain and educate. You can make Chinese medicine make sense to a patient, and to a physiotherapist.
- You work as a team. You are comfortable sharing patients, asking for another view, and following agreed clinic processes.
- You are organised and careful. Your room is clean, your notes are clear, you run to time, and your handovers are tidy. We see this as part of the craft, not admin.
- Current professional indemnity insurance and first aid.

Valued

- Interest in learning how allied health assesses and treats, and willingness to teach us how you think.
- Experience with moxibustion, cupping or other classical methods.

Who you will work with

A dual-qualified physiotherapist and acupuncturist (clinic director), an experienced Chinese medicine herbalist, physiotherapists and an exercise physiologist.

How we work with people

Employed: a base wage with super and leave, plus a share of your billings above a daily line. Contractor: a percentage of your billings that rises as your book grows. Some practitioners start on one and move to the other.
