The Client

Our client operates a substantial, highly mechanised irrigated farming enterprise near Yenda in the NSW Riverina. With a major long-term expansion program underway, the business is focused on efficient crop production, modern irrigation, strong machinery management and continuous improvement.

The Role

This is an excellent chance for a capable and ambitious farm operator ready to step into a genuine 2IC position. Working closely with the Farm Manager, you will help lead day-to-day operations and progressively take ownership of key areas of the farm.This is a practical role for someone who enjoys operating machinery, managing irrigation and crop activities, solving problems and working alongside a small farm team. Direct experience with this crop is not essential; strong transferable farming skills and the drive to learn are more important.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate daily farm activities, staff, contractors and seasonal priorities
- Operate and optimise irrigation systems, including scheduling and troubleshooting
- Support crop establishment, plant care, weed control, fertiliser and fertigation
- Operate, maintain and help repair tractors and agricultural machinery
- Play a key role in harvest planning, logistics and machinery operations




- Lead by example in safety, work standards and practical problem-solving

About You

- Several years of hands-on experience in farming, horticulture or a related operation
- Confident with tractors, farm machinery and practical mechanical troubleshooting
- Sound irrigation experience, ideally with pumps, drip systems and scheduling
- A proactive, reliable doer who takes ownership and follows tasks through
- Leadership potential and the ability to guide a small team while remaining hands-on
- Agricultural qualifications, current study or a genuine desire to undertake further study

The Location The role is based at Yenda, close to Griffith in the heart of the Riverina. The region offers an established agricultural community, affordable regional living and excellent access to services, schools and recreation. Applicants should live locally or be prepared to relocate.
