About the role

As an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advanced Health Worker - Women's Health and Child Development, you'll play an important role in connecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women, children and families with culturally secure, accessible health services. Working within the multidisciplinary Allied Health team, you'll provide culturally specific knowledge, support family-centred care and help strengthen engagement with Women's Physiotherapy and Child Development services. You'll also work alongside maternity and community partners, providing education, cultural guidance, care coordination and outreach to support positive health outcomes across the region.

Working with us

- For 1 year will get you an isolation bonus of AUD$3,695. If you stay for 2 years you will get AUD$11,085… and for your 3rd year (and every year after that) you will get AUD$7,390 (pro rata for part time employees).
- In your downtime, we will provide 2 return airfares p.a. (full time employees) (inc. spouse/dependents) or 1 return airfare p.a. (part time employees) to the nearest east coast provincial city in conjunction with your Recreation leave.
- Tax savings through salary sacrificing options are also available.

Requirements

- To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.



It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification - Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health or Diploma of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.
- Applicants who do not hold the mandatory qualification requirements, but believe they have the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the role as outlined, and will commit to completing the qualification(s) within an agreed timeframe if appointed, are encouraged to apply for this vacancy.

- Participation in outreach services in accordance with departmental requirements is required.
- C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
- Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History / Blue Card checks.

- This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
- A period of probation may apply.
