Our client is a well-established and growing construction business based in Virginia, seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join their finance team on a temporary basis, with the potential for a permanent opportunity for the right candidate.

This is a stand-alone Accounts Payable role where you will take ownership of the end-to-end AP function, ensuring suppliers, subcontractors and employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining solid financial controls.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the full-function accounts payable process from invoice receipt through to payment

- Process high-volume supplier and subcontractor invoices in Xero

- Verify invoice details, GST treatment, coding, approvals and supporting documentation

- Match invoices to purchase orders, delivery dockets and project-related records

- Allocate costs accurately across projects, departments and cost centres

- Coordinate and prepare weekly payment runs in line with payment schedules

- Issue remittance advices and maintain accurate payment records

- Reconcile supplier statements and investigate account discrepancies

- Respond to supplier enquiries and resolve invoice and payment issues professionally

- Set up and maintain supplier accounts and banking details





- Process employee expense claims and corporate card transactions

- Assist with month-end tasks including AP reconciliations, accruals and ledger balancing

- Maintain accurate electronic records and support audit and compliance requirements

About You
- Proven experience in a full-function Accounts Payable position

- Previous experience working in the construction, building, engineering or project-based environment highly regarded

- Strong working knowledge of Xero

- Ability to work autonomously in a stand-alone AP role

- High level of accuracy and attention to detail

- Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders

- Well organised with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

- Available to commence immediately or at short notice
