Our client, one of the Federal Government Departments , is seeking an experienced Solution Infrastructure Engineer to join a high-performing technology team responsible for the design, modernisation and ongoing evolution of critical enterprise infrastructure platforms.
n This is an exciting opportunity for a senior infrastructure skilled with strong architecture and design experience to influence strategic technology outcomes, develop infrastructure roadmaps, and deliver resilient, scalable solutions that support business-critical services.

About the Role n

Working within a complex enterprise environment, you will be responsible for designing and delivering robust infrastructure solutions across on-premises, virtualised, networking and cloud environments. You will play a key role in infrastructure transformation initiatives including technology refreshes, system consolidation, resiliency improvements and legacy platform decommissioning.
n You will collaborate closely with architects, operational teams, vendors and business stakeholders to ensure infrastructure solutions align with strategic objectives while maintaining operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities n

n
- Develop and maintain technology infrastructure roadmaps aligned with organisational and ICT strategies.
n
- Provide expert advice on infrastructure lifecycle management, emerging technologies and investment opportunities.
n
- Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt, optimise infrastructure costs and improve business outcomes.
n
- Design enterprise-grade infrastructure, networking and virtualisation solutions.
n
- Lead infrastructure modernisation, technology refresh and consolidation initiatives.
n
- Develop and review High-Level Solution Designs (HLSDs), Detailed Level Designs (DLDs) and technical specifications.
n
- Validate disaster recovery, failover and business continuity solutions.
n
- Produce operational designs, runbooks, standards and supporting documentation.
n




- Review infrastructure health, performance and capacity metrics and recommend improvements.Conduct proof-of-concepts (PoCs) and evaluate vendor solutions.
n
- Provide knowledge transfer and support seamless transition to operational teams.
n
- Engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into business-friendly language.
n

Essential Skills & Experience nn
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering enterprise infrastructure solutions within large and complex environments.
n
- Strong infrastructure architecture and solution design experience.
n
- Excellent knowledge of: n n
- Server infrastructure (Windows and/or Linux)
n
- Virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V or similar)
n
- Enterprise networking concepts
n
- Storage and backup platforms
n
- Hybrid cloud environments (Azure and/or AWS)
n

n
- Experience developing infrastructure roadmaps and strategic technology plans.
n
- Solid understanding of high availability, disaster recovery and resiliency design.
n
- Experience producing architecture and engineering documentation including: n

- Business Specifications
n
- Functional Specifications
n
- HLSDs
n
- Detailed Designs
n
- Technical Specifications
n
- Architecture Decision Records
n
- Standard Operating Procedures

- Strong problem management, capacity management and availability management capabilities.

- Experience using scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, Terraform or Ansible.
n
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
n
