This role is based in Burnie, TAS, and is internally referred to as the Advocacy and Engagement Manager.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will manage CCA's advocacy positions and external communications, support the CEO in representing the region's interests to State and Federal Governments, and lead the organisation's communications function.

Duties

- Lead the development and delivery of CCA's annual regional advocacy agenda and strategy
- Drive regional advocacy campaigns on behalf of CCA and its Member Councils
- Coordinate government relations, parliamentary engagement, and ministerial briefings
- Prepare and oversee submissions, briefing papers, position statements, and speeches
- Deliver media statements, stakeholder correspondence, and digital content

Skills & Experience

- Tertiary qualification in communications, public policy, or equivalent experience
- Minimum five years' experience in advocacy, communications, or government relations
- Proven ability to influence decision-makers in a complex political workplace




- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong policy analysis capability
- Current driver's licence and willingness to travel periodically
