A South Burnett Regional Council Opportunity:

Develop your career with a full-time Diesel Fitter Apprenticeship with the South Burnett Regional Council while assisting in the Council's Plant & Fleet Workshop in Kingaroy.

The successful applicant will commence on Monday, 1st February, 2027.

The Duties: The primary role of the position will be to learn and develop engineering diesel fitting trade skills and to use those skills to provide quality support to the workshop team in servicing and maintaining the Council's machinery and equipment.

Specific duties will include

- Gain practical on-the-job
- Participate in theoretical training to acquire trade skills.
- Undertake the completion of a Cert III in Engineering - Fixed and Mobile Plant.
- Assist and work with the Council workshop's qualified trade staff.
- Maintain work areas to ensure a safe, clean, tidy and efficient workplace.
- Ensure workshop equipment and tools used are maintained in positive condition.
- Maintain efficient timekeeping, work organisation and quality control to ensure effective service to Council's internal and external customers.

The Requirements:

- A commitment to learn new skills and complete formal Diesel Fitting




- The ability to safely perform the physical demands of the role.
- A demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Sound comprehension and numeracy skills.
- Sound communication skills.
- The ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision as required.
- Proven team player qualities.
- Minimum successful completion of year 10.
- A minimum current "C" class driver licence.
- General Safety Induction for Construction Worker Certification (White Card) or the ability to quickly acquire.
- A commitment to safety in the workplace.
