Dya Australia is looking for confident, outgoing and creative people to join our Melbourne team as casual Art Workshop & Event Instructors.

This is not a traditional art teaching role.

Our workshops are social, relaxed and event-based. Most instructors start by running our public Paint & Sip events, where guests are there to have a fun night out, have a few drinks, chat, laugh and paint.

The art is important, but so is the experience you create for the group. We are looking for people who can confidently lead a room, communicate clearly, make guests feel comfortable and keep the energy going.

We provide training in our paintings and workshop formats, so you do not need to be a professional or highly experienced artist.

What the role involves

- Leading Paint & Sip sessions and other creative workshops
- Demonstrating paintings step-by-step in a straightforward and approachable way
- Speaking confidently in front of groups and keeping people engaged
- Creating a fun, casual and welcoming atmosphere
- Setting up paints, canvases, tables and other materials
- Packing down, washing brushes, cleaning and resetting after events
- Transporting materials to off-site events when required
- Eventually facilitating a mix of public events, corporate workshops, private functions and school programs

This is a hands-on role. Public events can be busy, loud and messy, and guests are often drinking. Evening events regularly finish at 9:30pm, followed by pack-down and cleaning.

Who we’re looking for

You may have a background in hospitality, events, teaching, facilitation, performing,



customer service or another role where you have been responsible for groups of people.

You should be

- Comfortable and confident speaking in front of a group
- Friendly, outgoing and good with different personalities
- Able to take charge of a room without being overly formal
- Happy working in a very casual and social environment
- Practical and willing to help with setup, cleaning and pack-down
- Reliable and organised
- Comfortable working evenings and weekends
- Available for a minimum of three shifts per week on an ongoing basis
- Comfortable with painting and able to follow and demonstrate our workshop formats

Requirements

- Some painting experience, particularly acrylic and/or watercolour
- Experience in customer service, hospitality, teaching, events, facilitation or public speaking
- Driver licence and access to a car, as some events require transporting materials
- Ability to lift and carry event equipment
- Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain one
- RSA, or willingness to obtain one
- Australian work rights
