Bridge IT is seeking an experienced AI Solutions Engineer to support a Queensland Governemnt Department leading the adoption of artificial intelligence.

This is a hands-on technical role focused on taking AI ideas from intake through proof of concept to a supportable production handover. The role is weighted towards solution engineering, integration and assurance, rather than foundation model development.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, build and release AI agents and retrieval-grounded assistants on approved platforms.
- Build, test and release agents using Copilot Studio, SharePoint agents, Microsoft 365 Copilot extensibility and Power Platform.
- Develop connectors, multi-step orchestration and human handoff workflows.
- Build retrieval-grounded solutions across departmental content.
- Define source selection, chunking and indexing strategy, retrieval tuning and grounding controls.
- Take proofs of concept into a supportable production state with ownership, monitoring, failure modes, cost profile and support model.
- Integrate AI capability into departmental systems and data sources through APIs, connectors and managed data flows.
- Design identity, permission and data-protection controls, including least privilege, permission inheritance, sensitivity labelling and oversharing controls.
- Define and run AI solution evaluation, including test sets, accuracy, groundedness, hallucination, prompt-injection testing and release gates.
- Author technical assurance artefacts, including FAIRA / FAIRA Lite, information security and privacy assessments, architecture and data-flow documentation.
- Assess third-party AI tools and provide technical input to vendor discussions.




- Support schools and delivery partners through reference implementations, reusable patterns, guidance and workshops.

To be successful, you will have:

- Demonstrated delivery of LLM-based solutions into pilot or production in an enterprise or government environment.
- Experience delivering at least one multi-step agent or retrieval-grounded assistant used by real users.
- Practical build experience across Copilot Studio, Power Platform and Microsoft 365 Copilot extensibility.
- Experience with SharePoint or Graph connectors, workplace configuration and data loss prevention.
- Strong retrieval architecture experience, including embeddings, vector and hybrid search and chunking strategy.
- Ability to diagnose and fix poor retrieval quality.
- Identity and permission design experience using Microsoft Entra ID.
- Working knowledge of Purview sensitivity labelling and data loss prevention as they apply to AI exposure.
- Experience evaluating AI systems, including hallucination testing, prompt-injection testing, measurable success criteria and release gates.

Highly Desirable

Experience across some of the following would be highly regarded:

- Python for integration, orchestration, automation and evaluation tooling.
- Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Search.
- Source control and release automation using Azure DevOps or GitHub.
- Authorship of technical assurance evidence that has passed formal review.
- Security assessments, privacy assessments or architecture submissions.
- Deployment of open-weight or quantised models on self-hosted or isolated infrastructure.
- FAIRA, IS18, QGEA AI governance policy, business impact levels or Safer Technologies 4 Schools.
- School, child-facing, government or regulated environments.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications across AI, Power Platform, security or identity.
