About the role

We're looking for an experienced B2B salesperson to win new school customers across Brisbane and west to Toowoomba.

Schools don't change uniform suppliers often. When they do, the decision usually involves the principal, the business manager, a committee and the uniform shop, and it can take a year or more. You'll need to find those schools early and earn their confidence. Once they're on board, you'll continue looking after them and developing the relationship over the years that follow.

There's an established portfolio to look after as well, and we'll expect you to grow it. New business comes first. You'll work directly with the General Manager and alongside our design, customer service and production teams.

Based at our Murarrie head office, you'll cover Brisbane's north, central and southern areas, extending west to Toowoomba, with regular travel to schools.

UMS is a Brisbane-based family business with over 25 years in school uniforms. We design, manufacture and supply uniforms to schools across Australia.

What you'll do

Work out which schools to approach and why, then make the first call.

Build relationships with school leaders, business managers and uniform shop representatives.

Prepare proposals,



present options and negotiate agreements.

Leave every meeting with the next step agreed and a date on it.

Maintain existing customer relationships and identify opportunities for further business.

Manage your sales pipeline, forecasts and customer records.

Coordinate with colleagues to deliver what has been agreed with customers.

Who this suits

You've personally found and won business that mattered to your employer, in a market where the customer takes their time. You've cold called and it didn't bother you. You've sat in front of a committee. You've lost one and kept the relationship. You'll be able to explain your results and what you did to get them.

School-uniform experience is welcome. We’re equally interested in relevant experience from other industries involving substantial customer relationships and considered purchasing decisions.

The package

$100,000 base salary plus superannuation.

A $15,000 annual car allowance or company car.

Performance incentives for current business and growth within existing accounts.

We’ll explain the incentive structure and walk shortlisted candidates through earnings examples.

Requirements

A current driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly throughout the territory are essential.

A Blue Card (Working with Children Check) and Queensland police check are required before visiting schools. We arrange these with you.
