About the role n

We are looking for an experienced Back-End Software Engineer to join our engineering team in Brisbane.

n

You will work primarily on the back-end systems that power Statseeker, developing new capabilities while improving the performance, reliability and maintainability of our existing platform.

n

This is a hands‑on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys solving challenging technical problems,



working close to the operating system and network layer, and building software where performance and efficiency matter.

n

You will work closely with other back‑end engineers, front‑end developers and QA engineers to design, develop, test and deliver new functionality across the Statseeker product.

n

We encourage engineers to explore and adopt contemporary development practices and tooling, including AI-assisted development, where they improve productivity, code quality and maintainability.

Key responsibilities n

Design, develop and maintain back-end functionality across the Statseeker platform.

- n

Develop high-performance and scalable services.

n
- n

Improve and modernise existing systems while maintaining the stability of a mature enterprise product.

n
- n

Design and maintain APIs and interfaces between back-end and front-end systems.

n
- n

Investigate and resolve complex performance, reliability and scalability issues.

n
- n

Write maintainable, well‑tested and well‑documented software.

n
- n

Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.

n
- n

Work with engineering and product teams to understand requirements, estimate work and help shape technical solutions.

n
- n

Contribute to the ongoing improvement of our development, testing and delivery processes.

n
- n





Use modern development tools, including AI-assisted software development tools, to improve engineering productivity and quality.

n
- n

Consider security, performance and reliability throughout the software development lifecycle.

n

About you n

You will ideally have:

n

n
- n

5+ years of commercial software development experience.

n
- n

Strong C and/or C++ development skills.

n
- n

Strong Python development skills.

n
- n

Experience with Bash, sh or similar Unix shell scripting.

n
- n

Strong experience working in Unix or Linux environments.

n
- n

A solid understanding of software design, debugging and testing practices.

n
- n

Experience diagnosing complex software and system-level problems.

n
- n

An understanding of performance, scalability and security considerations in software development.

n
- n

Experience with modern source control, code review, automated testing and CI/CD practices.

n
- n

Experience using AI-assisted software development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Codex or similar.

n
- n

A strong interest in continuously improving how software is designed, developed, tested and maintained.

n
- n

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

n
- n

A practical, detail‑oriented approach to problem solving.

n
- n

The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a broader engineering team.

- n

An interest in tackling technically challenging problems and continuously improving existing systems.

n

Experience with networking, network monitoring, FreeBSD or high-performance data processing would be highly regarded.
