About the Role

This is a Permanent Full-Time leadership position based in our Brisbane South Office in Loganlea. As an Assistant Area Manager, you will work closely alongside the Area Manager to provide operational leadership across a portfolio of residential care houses, supporting the delivery of consistent, compliant and high-quality services for Children and Young People.

You will lead, coach and develop Team Leaders and Senior Team Leaders, building their capability to create safe, stable and nurturing environments where practice remains firmly centred on the individual needs of each Young Person and their teams.

Key Responsibilites

- Lead, coach and develop Team Leaders and Senior Team Leaders across the region
- Support Team Leaders to deliver high-quality, person-centred and therapeutic practice for Children and Young People
- Oversee house operations, including rostering, staffing, budgets, expenditure and operational resources
- Review and approve rosters, ensuring compliance with the enterprise agreement, allocated case hours and operational requirements
- Lead licensing, compliance, audit and reporting requirements across residential houses
- Support the development and implementation of individualised plans for Young People, including safety, technology, behaviour support, therapeutic and educational planning
- Develop Team Leader capability in coaching, mentoring and supporting Team Members
- Lead workforce planning, performance management,



employee retention and succession planning
- Support effective stakeholder engagement and ensure the therapeutic, social, cultural and educational needs of Young People are advocated for
- Lead workplace health and safety actions, compliance and reporting across the area
- Monitor operational and financial performance and provide regular reporting to the Area Manager
- Support business continuity and provide leadership across the region as operational needs arise
- Step into Acting Area Manager responsibilities when required.

About You

You will be comfortable coaching and developing other leaders, having constructive performance conversations and building teams that are accountable, capable and engaged.

Your approach will be organised and proactive, with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple houses while maintaining a robust focus on compliance, quality and positive outcomes for Young People.

Importantly, you will be committed to person-centred and therapeutic practice and able to role model the leadership behaviours expected across Family Centered Support Services.

You Will Need

- Significant experience working with Children, Young People and their Families within residential out-of-home care or a related human services environment
- A minimum of 18 months' experience in a comparable leadership role
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching and people-management capability, including experience developing and supporting leaders
- Strong knowledge of operational and compliance requirements, including licensing, audits, reporting and stakeholder engagement
- Demonstrated ability to promote person-centred, therapeutic practice within a 24/7 residential care environment
- Experience managing operational requirements including rostering, staffing, budgets and expenditure
- Experience in performance management, workforce development, retention and succession planning
- Strong organisational, time-management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and reporting
- A minimum Diploma in Community Services, Human Services, Social Work or a related discipline, OR Certificate IV plus a recognised leadership qualification
- Current Open Driver's Licence
- Current Working with Children Card, or ability to meet relevant requirements
- Willingness to undergo required Departmental screening processes (LCS) and complete additional training
- Flexibility to undertake on-call responsibilities and work across other regions when operationally required
- Capability and willingness to step into Acting Area Manager responsibilities when required.
