Your Role
Lidiar Group is seeking a commercially minded and ambitious Associate Consultant – Commercial & Contracts to join our growing team.
As an Associate, you will provide commercial and contractual consulting support across the full project lifecycle - from procurement and contract formation through project execution, contract administration, commercial management and close-out.
Our portfolio spans multiple sectors, with assignments undertaken on both the client and contractor side. Our work ranges from discrete consulting and advisory engagements through to embedded and secondment-style roles working directly within client and project teams.
You will apply and continue to develop your capability across:
- Contract administration and commercial management
- Procurement of supply, subcontract and professional services packages
- Preparation, review and administration of contract documentation
- Management and assessment of variations, claims and contractual entitlements
- Progress claims and payment assessments
- Project budgeting, forecasting and cost control
- Identification, assessment and management of commercial and contractual risks
- Contractual correspondence, notices and project records
- Commercial reporting and project performance analysis
- Negotiation and resolution of commercial issues
- Project close-out, final accounts and contract completion
This is not simply a contract administration role. We are looking for someone who can develop into a trusted commercial and project consultant - someone capable of understanding a project issue, investigating the facts and contractual position, considering the commercial implications, developing a practical response and clearly communicating their advice.
The role requires someone who is equally comfortable preparing clear and considered written advice and correspondence as they are discussing and resolving issues directly with project managers, contractors, subcontractors and clients.
You will be expected to understand the commercial drivers behind project decisions, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and help project teams develop practical solutions that protect commercial outcomes while supporting successful project delivery.
For someone currently working within an internal project or commercial team, this is an opportunity to move beyond a single project environment and develop broader capability across Project Consulting, Commercial Advisory, Contract Management and Project Management.

Completion / Close-Out
- Commercial close-out of contracts, subcontracts and supply packages
- Assessment and negotiation of final accounts
- Resolution of outstanding variations, claims and commercial matters
- Supporting completion, defects and contractual close-out processes

Our Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will hold qualifications in Law, Commerce, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline, supported by practical experience in contract administration, project commercial management, procurement or project controls.
You will ideally bring 3+ years of relevant experience within the Australian construction, infrastructure or project delivery environment, with exposure to the administration and commercial management of construction, supply or professional services contracts.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have developed a strong foundation within a contractor or project delivery environment and are now ready to broaden their experience.
You may currently be working as a Contracts Administrator, Commercial Coordinator,
Project Commercial Advisor, Quantity Surveyor or similar, administering contracts, managing budgets and forecasts, assessing variations and supporting the commercial delivery of projects.
Beyond technical experience, we are looking for someone who can think commercially and exercise sound judgement. You should be comfortable investigating project issues, interpreting contractual requirements, identifying commercial risks and opportunities, developing a considered position and communicating that position clearly to clients and project stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. You will need to be equally comfortable preparing contractual correspondence, commercial reports and recommendations as you are discussing and negotiating issues directly with project managers, contractors, subcontractors and clients.
You will ideally demonstrate
- Experience administering construction, supply, subcontract or professional services agreements
- Understanding of Australian construction contracting and commercial practices
- Experience with procurement, tender evaluation and contract formation
- Experience preparing or assessing variations, claims, progress payments and contractual notices
- Project budgeting, cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting experience
- Strong analytical capability and proficiency in Excel and working with project commercial data
- An ability to identify and proactively manage contractual and commercial risk
- Strong written communication and the ability to develop clear, well-reasoned commercial positions
- Confidence engaging directly with clients and project stakeholders
- An ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
Experience within a consulting environment will be highly regarded but is not essential. More important is your ability to adapt quickly, understand complex project issues and apply your commercial experience across different clients, contracts and project environments.
We are seeking enthusiastic, engaged and ambitious individuals who can quickly connect with our clients, analyse complex commercial and contractual issues, communicate clearly and confidently, and develop practical solutions that deliver tangible project outcomes.
Develop Your Career as a Consultant
This opportunity is particularly suited to someone who wants to move beyond administering a single project or contract and develop into a broader commercial and project consultant.
You will gain exposure to client-side and contractor-side engagements, consulting and advisory assignments, and embedded project roles across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects.
Working alongside experienced project, commercial and technical professionals, you will have the opportunity to broaden your experience, develop your client-facing capability and progressively take greater responsibility for assignments and commercial outcomes.
For the right person, the role provides a clear pathway toward more senior positions in Commercial Advisory, Project Consulting, Contract Management and Project Management.
Practical Requirements The role is based in Brisbane and operates within Lidiar Group’s flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
Depending on assignments, there may be opportunities or requirements to work from client offices or project sites and undertake regular project-related travel.
Candidates must hold appropriate Australian working rights and be able to work effectively within client and project environments.
If you are a proactive, commercially astute and adaptable professional who wants to broaden your project experience and develop a career in consulting, we encourage you to apply.
Salary: $120,000–$150,000 + superannuation, commensurate with experience, with eligibility for Lidiar Group's performance incentive program after six months.
