Your day as an Associate Economist

You will contribute to high-quality economic advice and analysis that informs microeconomic policy development and government decision-making.

Your work may include researching and analysing economic and policy issues, assessing the economic, financial, legal and administrative impacts of proposals, and helping identify priorities for reform across a range of NSW Government policy contexts. Your advice and analysis will centre First Nations perspectives and culture within economic and policy frameworks.

You will prepare clear and concise briefs, Ministerial correspondence, reports and submissions; support projects and assignments; monitor milestones and deliverables; and collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to help achieve Treasury outcomes.

What you can bring to the role

We are looking for someone who is curious, team-oriented and motivated to use evidence to support better outcomes for the people and communities of NSW.

The ideal candidate will bring:

● the ability to undertake basic research and analyse data, models and diverse perspectives under supervision

● clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain routine technical information in plain English

● sound judgement, curiosity and a willingness to seek input, share ideas and solve problems

● First Nations cultural capability and/or knowledge and experience in the First Nations policy landscape.
