The Role

As a Housing Officer, you'll manage a portfolio of community housing tenancies across the full tenancy lifecycle.

You’ll build positive relationships with tenants, identify issues early and work collaboratively to support successful and sustainable tenancies.

No two days will be the same. You may be conducting a property inspection, working through rent arrears with a tenant, coordinating with a support service, managing a complex tenancy matter or representing ACHC at QCAT.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Managing tenancies in accordance with the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act and ACHC policies
- Building respectful and professional relationships with tenants
- Managing rent, arrears, tenancy breaches and other tenancy matters
- Conducting property inspections, tenancy reviews and home visits
- Identifying tenancy risks early and working with tenants to find practical solutions
- Managing complex and sensitive tenancy matters fairly and consistently
- Preparing notices, maintaining accurate records and progressing tenancy actions
- Preparing matters and representing ACHC at QCAT when required
- Working closely with support agencies, government services and community organisations
- Liaising with ACHC's Assets team regarding maintenance and property concerns
- Contributing to safe, sustainable and positive housing outcomes for tenants.

About You

We're looking for someone who is confident working with people, comfortable making decisions and able to balance empathy with clear professional boundaries.





You’ll ideally bring:

- Experience in community housing, tenancy management, property management or a related field
- Knowledge of Queensland residential tenancy legislation and tenancy processes
- Robust communication, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills
- Confidence managing challenging, complex or sensitive situations
- Good judgement and the ability to assess and manage risk when working in the community
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confidence using technology and maintaining accurate tenancy records
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and as part of a team
- A genuine commitment to respectful, person-centred service

Experience within community or social housing is highly regarded, but we also welcome applications from experienced property managers or tenancy professionals looking to bring their skills into the community housing sector.
