About the Role

As a Board Member, you will contribute to the strategic direction and governance of NWDS, working alongside the Chair, CEO and fellow Board Members to ensure the organisation operates ethically, sustainably and in line with its governance and regulatory responsibilities.

We are particularly seeking candidates who can strengthen the Board’s capability in financial governance and oversight and/or clinical governance, quality and safeguarding. You will bring informed challenge and sound judgement to Board discussions, helping oversee financial performance, sustainability, risk, quality,



participant safety and regulatory compliance.

This is a voluntary governance position. Meetings are conducted in an accessible format, with reasonable adjustments available to support participation.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking Board Members who bring substantial capability in one or more of the following priority areas:

- Strong financial skills, including the ability to interpret financial statements, budgets, forecasts and financial risks, and to provide effective oversight of financial sustainability, audit, investment and internal controls
- Clinical governance expertise, including experience overseeing quality and safeguarding systems, clinical risk, incident management, continuous improvement and safe service delivery
- Strong understanding of governance, risk and regulatory responsibilities
- Understanding of the NDIS regulatory environment, including quality, safeguarding and compliance obligations
- Strategic thinking and the ability to provide constructive challenge and independent judgement
- Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience in disability, health, human services, not-for-profit or community services environments is highly desirable
- Governance qualifications such as AICD training are desirable but not essential

Requirements

Board Members must meet applicable statutory and governance requirements, including holding a valid Director ID and completing a National Police Check. Completion of the NDIS Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You is also required.
