Company Description Private Certifiers Australia has been delivering building certification services across Greater Sydney since 2004 and is based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The company has broad experience with Class 2–9 buildings, including multi-residential, commercial, industrial, education, health care, and infrastructure projects. A strong focus on expertise, quality service, and long-standing industry relationships ensures a smooth certification and compliance process for clients.

The team assists with the issue of Construction Certificates and Complying Development Certificates and is highly knowledgeable about Design & Building Practitioner requirements for Class 2, 3, and 9 buildings. Led by Director Grant Harrington, who serves on the AAC Board and works closely with the NSW Government, the practice is supported by a team of accredited building surveyors.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Building Surveyor Certifier A2 role based in Brookvale, NSW. The role involves assessing building designs and documentation for compliance with relevant codes and standards, particularly for Class 2–9 buildings.

The Building Surveyor

Certifier will review and certify applications for Construction Certificates and Complying Development Certificates, conduct site inspections, and prepare clear reports and correspondence for clients and authorities. Daily responsibilities include liaising with architects, builders, engineers, and developers,



providing technical guidance on compliance matters, and managing certification workflows to ensure timelines and regulatory requirements are met. The role also requires maintaining accurate records, staying updated on legislative changes, and contributing to a collaborative and professional team environment.

Qualifications

- Strong skills in building surveying, including interpreting building codes, standards, and regulations for Class 2–9 buildings.
- Experience conducting condition surveys and dilapidation reports to assess existing building and site conditions.
- Ability to undertake feasibility studies to evaluate development proposals and compliance risks.
- Competence in contract management, including managing certification-related obligations and project documentation.
- Accredited Building Surveyor (A2 or equivalent), with current registration in NSW or eligibility to obtain it.
- Sound knowledge of NCC, NSW planning legislation, and Design & Building Practitioner requirements.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and report-writing capability.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency with relevant digital tools and systems used for certification, documentation, and record keeping.
- Commitment to skilled ethics, continuous learning, and high-quality client service.
