Data Analyst – Databricks / SQL
n Canberra | Hybrid | Baseline Clearance Required
n $95–$110 per hour incl. super

n

We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst to support a Federal Government team responsible for school data production, reporting and analytics.
n This role will suit someone with strong SQL capability, experience working with complex datasets, and practical exposure to Databricks, PySpark or Spark SQL.
n You will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to analyse and reconcile data, investigate quality issues, translate reporting requirements into analytical solutions and support repeatable reporting processes.

Key responsibilities n

n
- Analyse and reconcile complex administrative and reporting datasets
n
- Translate business and reporting requirements into data specifications and analytical outputs
n
- Develop SQL and PySpark transformations, validation rules and repeatable reports
n
- Undertake data profiling, reconciliation, quality assurance and anomaly investigation
n
- Develop documented business rules and fit-for-purpose analytical datasets
n
- Support annual reporting, BAU activities and ad hoc data requests

- Prepare technical and analytical documentation
n
- Support stakeholder engagement, knowledge transfer and ongoing team capability
n

The role forms part of a broader transition to a Databricks-based analytics platform.

Essential experience n

n
- Advanced SQL capability
n
- Experience analysing complex administrative, government or similar datasets
n
- Working knowledge of Databricks, PySpark and/or Spark SQL
n
- Strong experience in data profiling, reconciliation, validation and quality assurance
n
- Ability to translate business requirements into data specifications, reports and reusable analytical outputs
n
- Robust stakeholder engagement, documentation and written communication skills
n

EligibilityApplicants must: n

- Be able to work from the Canberra office under hybrid arrangements
n
- Hold a current Baseline security clearance or higher
n

Contract: 12 October 2026 to 30 June 2027 Extension: Possible 6-month extension Rate: $95–$110 per hour including superannuation n
