The Bourne Group is looking for an experienced Senior Residential Housing Estimator to manage sales estimating, pre‐construction pricing and procurement across residential building projects. This is a senior position for someone who can take an opportunity from initial plans and client discussions through to a complete construction estimate, contract price, procurement plan and project handover.
Key responsibilities n
n
- Reviewing architectural plans, engineering, specifications and client requirements
n
- Preparing feasibility estimates, preliminary budgets and detailed construction estimates
n
- Completing quantity take-offs and trade costings
n
- Preparing quotations and tender submissions
n
- Attending client and consultant meetings when pricing input is required
n
- Explaining allowances, exclusions, Prime Cost items and Provisional Sums
n
- Helping management convert suitable enquiries into profitable building contracts
n
- Preparing and issuing subcontractor and supplier RFQs
n
- Following up quotations and preparing like‐for‐like comparisons
n
- Identifying missing scope, documentation gaps and commercial risks
n
About you nn
- Experience pricing custom homes, new builds, renovations or substantial extensions
n
- Excellent plan‑reading and quantity take‑off skills
n
- A practical understanding of construction methods, sequencing and trade scopes
n
- Experience obtaining and comparing subcontractor and supplier quotations
n
- Solid commercial judgement and an understanding of margin protection
n
- Confidence discussing budgets, pricing and scope with clients and consultants
n
- Good organisational, communication and follow‑up skills
n
- Strong Excel and general computer skills
n
