Role: Business Analyst/ Technical Business Analyst (Data)

Role Summary

- An experienced Technical Business Analyst with 10 years of experience to join a major data transformation program within the telecommunications industry, supporting the Finance domain.
- The successful candidate will bring a strong combination of business analysis, technical data analysis, financial domain knowledge, and stakeholder management.
- This role will work closely with Finance, Technology, Data, Product, and other business stakeholders to understand complex business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and support the transformation of financial data, processes, and reporting capabilities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, as the role will involve working across multiple business and technology teams and engaging with senior stakeholders throughout the transformation lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Requirements

- Lead business analysis activities across Finance-focused data transformation initiatives.
- Engage with Finance, Technology, Data, and business stakeholders to understand business objectives, processes, pain points, and requirements.
- Elicit, analyse, document, and validate functional and non-functional requirements.
- Translate complex business requirements into clear technical requirements, data specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Facilitate workshops with business and technology stakeholders to drive requirement discovery and alignment.
- Identify dependencies, risks, assumptions, gaps, and impacts across business processes and data platforms.
- Support requirements traceability from business needs through to development, testing, and implementation.

Data Analysis & Technical Analysis

- Perform data analysis using SQL and reporting tools like Power BI
- Define business KPIs, measures, and success metrics.
- Conduct source-to-target mapping, data lineage analysis, and impact assessments.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and BI teams to develop dashboards and analytics solutions.
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, and governance standards are maintained.

Finance Domain

- Apply strong understanding of telecommunications finance processes and financial data to analyse business requirements and data.
- Work with Finance stakeholders to understand financial reporting, accounting, billing, revenue, cost, Margin, Profitability,



forecasting, budgeting, and related data requirements.
- Understand relationships between financial data and upstream/downstream systems within a Telco environment.
- Support financial data reconciliation and ensure transformed data maintains business and financial integrity.
- Identify opportunities to improve data quality, process efficiency, transparency, and reporting capabilities within Finance.

Stakeholder Engagement

- Build strong working relationships with senior stakeholders across Finance, Technology, Data, and business functions.
- Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams.
- Communicate complex technical and data concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Facilitate stakeholder discussions, workshops, requirement reviews, and solution walkthroughs.
- Manage conflicting requirements and priorities by establishing clear business outcomes and impacts.
- Provide clear updates on requirements, data analysis findings, risks, dependencies, and delivery progress.

Testing & Delivery Support

- Work closely with QA and business teams to define test scenarios and acceptance criteria.
- Support system integration testing, data validation, reconciliation, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Validate transformed data against source systems and agreed business rules.
- Analyse defects and data discrepancies and support teams in identifying root causes.
- Support production readiness, implementation, and post-release validation activities.

Required Skills & Experience

Core Experience

- 10 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, Data Business Analyst, or similar role.
- Strong experience working within large-scale data transformation / data migration / data modernisation programs.
- Proven experience within the Telecommunications industry, in a Finance-related domain.
- Strong understanding of Finance business processes, financial data, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated experience working across complex enterprise environments with multiple source and target systems.




- Strong experience working with both business and technical stakeholders.

Technical & Data Skills

- Perform data analysis using SQL and reporting tools like Power BI
- Define business KPIs, measures, and success metrics.
- Conduct source-to-target mapping, data lineage analysis, and impact assessments.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and BI teams to develop dashboards and analytics solutions.
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, and governance standards are maintained.
- Exposure to data visualisation/reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar is desirable.
- Experience with cloud data platforms, data warehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines, or modern data platforms is highly desirable.

Business Analysis Skills

- Strong requirements elicitation and documentation skills.
- Experience creating user stories, functional requirements, business requirements, process flows, data mappings, and acceptance criteria.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical/data requirements.
- Experience working in Agile and/or hybrid delivery environments.
- Strong understanding of SDLC and data delivery lifecycle.

Stakeholder & Communication Skills

- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Confident engaging with senior Finance and Technology stakeholders.
- Strong workshop facilitation and presentation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex data and technical concepts in clear business language.
- Robust negotiation, influencing, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, complex transformation environment.

Desirable Experience

- Experience in Telco & Finance Data Transformation transformation programs.
- Experience with billing, revenue & profitability management, GL, financial reporting, costing, forecasting, or management accounting data.
- Experience with large-scale data migration or data warehouse transformation.
- Experience with data governance and data quality frameworks.
- Experience with cloud technologies and modern data platforms.
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, SQL development tools, Power BI, or equivalent enterprise platforms.
