Mamamia is Australia's largest independent women's media group and our core purpose is to make the world a better place for women and girls. We reach seven and a half million women each month across written, video and social platforms and we have the largest women's podcast network in the world with 55 different shows.
About The Role
Love the thrill of winning new business? Ready to take your sales skills somewhere new?
If you've spent at least two years hunting new business, whether that's in SaaS, recruitment, telco, events, professional services or something else, we'd love to hear from you. We'll teach you media. What we can't teach is the drive to open doors, start conversations and close deals.
We're looking for an energetic Business Development Manager to join our vibrant team in Sydney. In this high-impact, proactive role, you'll lead the charge in driving net-new revenue by unlocking fresh opportunities with Direct clients. Reporting directly to the Head of Independent & Direct, NSW, you'll play a pivotal role in connecting inspiring brands with Mamamia's audience of millions of women. Your work will have a direct impact on our commercial growth and our mission.
Here's some of the stuff you can expect to be doing if you join us:
- Proactively building and managing a strong pipeline of direct clients in NSW
- Running energetic outbound prospecting cadences, including networking and referrals, inbound leads and cold outreach, to turn exciting new prospects into first-time clients.
- Crafting high-converting, tailored first-touch pitch materials and bespoke proposals for early-stage prospects.
- Driving net-new deal volume and revenue growth building Mamamia's market presence.
- Seamlessly managing deals, booking schedules and pipeline activity within our CRM.
- Overseeing initial campaign delivery and post-campaign analysis to ensure a stellar experience for your newly won clients.
- Partnering with internal teams for a smooth handover once new relationships are established, so your focus stays on fresh acquisition.
Now, a Bit About You
- 2+ years of sales or business development experience, with a proven track record as a proactive "hunter" rather than an account manager. Media or advertising experience is a bonus, but not essential.
- Demonstrated ability to build a pipeline from scratch and convert cold prospects into long-term commercial partners.
- Thrives in a structure that rewards initiative, deal volume and new-business acquisition.
- Highly resilient, self-motivated and organised, with the drive to sustain a high-energy outbound cadence.
- Confident and authentic communicator who can build credibility fast with brand decision-makers.
- Comfortable using a CRM (such as Salesforce, HubSpot or Monday CRM) to manage deals and keep pipeline data clean. You'll learn our media booking tools on the job.
- A collaborative team player who aligns with our purpose-driven mission, approaches feedback with curiosity and puts our audience at the heart of everything.
