Local Lunches prepares fresh, nutritious food for school communities. We are looking for a hands-on Canteen Supervisor to lead our Brookvale Public School canteen in Term 4 2026 and help run our new canteen at Northern Beaches Secondary College Freshwater Senior Campus from Term 1 2027. You will be accountable for service and results across both sites.

The hours and locations

· School terms only, can use annual leave in school holidays.

· Term 4 2026: three to four days per week, including Wednesday to Friday at Brookvale Public School, with the option of a Tuesday shift at another canteen. A outstanding opportunity to be slowly trained ahead of 2027.

· From Term 1 2027: five days per week Monday- Friday, primarily based at Freshwater Senior Campus, with responsibility for both Freshwater and Brookvale operations.

· School-day work offers a routine without regular nights or weekends. Occasional travel between Gordon and Brookvale with food is required; local travel for work is reimbursed.

What you will do

· Lead a friendly, efficient recess and lunch service, even when busy and priorities change.

· Guide staff on shift, train new team members and set a positive example in food quality, teamwork and customer service.

· Follow our strict operations procedures and ensure that your team does too.

· Prepare and present food consistently, follow food safety and allergen procedures, and keep the canteen clean and organised.

· Manage stock, ordering and daily routines, spot problems early and take ownership of practical solutions.

· Build good relationships with students and school staff,



and communicate clearly and honestly with the Local Lunches team.

You will bring

· Hospitality or quick service restaurant experience, including hands-on food preparation.

· Sound judgment under pressure, initiative, reliability and the ability to lead a team while working independently.

· A positive attitude and a genuine interest in coaching others. Previous management or supervisory experience is preferred.

· A valid Australian driver licence and access to a car.

· A current Working with Children Check, or the ability to obtain one before commencing. NSW Food Safety Supervisor certification is preferred.
