Case Management Officer (Custody)

Location – Wellington Correctional Centre

Employment type – Temporary, Full- time until September 2027

Salary – $102,936.00 - $113,579.00 pa plus superannuation and leave loading

Grade – Clerk Grade 5/6

Your role

Wellington Correctional Centre is a large facility that accommodates maximum, medium, and minimum security sentenced and unsentenced male and female inmates. Staff at Wellington Correctional Centre work in a dynamic and diverse environment where no two days are the same. The centre fosters a supportive work environment where non- custodial staff are integral and valued members of the team.

Case Management

Officers are responsible for delivering evidence-based case management to a diverse caseload of offenders, ensuring their individual risks and needs are addressed to maximise rehabilitation opportunities and reduce reoffending.

What you’ll do

As a Case Management Officer, you’ll play a vital role in transforming lives and creating safer communities. Your day-to-day work will be energetic and impactful. As a valued member of our dedicated Service Integration team, you will:

- Deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based case management services to offenders, ensuring all activities align with relevant legislation, policies and guidelines.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify risks, needs and strengths, using these to develop personalised case plans that support offenders through their rehabilitation journey.
- Apply motivational interviewing and strengths‑based approaches to support behavioural change and encourage offender accountability.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external service providers to connect offenders with programs and interventions that best align with their individual case plans.
- Monitor progress against case plans, ensuring compliance with judicial and departmental requirements, and preparing timely reports and documentation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to support effective reintegration planning and assist offenders in making a successful transition back into the community.

What we’re looking for

Essential requirements

- A current Certificate IV in Correctional Practice with the relevant Units of Competency or the ability to complete the qualification through the Corrective Services Academy within required timeframes.





- Current driver’s licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle in the course of performing the role.

Experience Required

- Demonstrated experience relevant to the role, with the ability to meet the key accountabilities and focus capabilities outlined in the role description.
- Demonstrated experience delivering evidence‑based interventions to diverse offender groups, including those with complex needs.
- Proficiency in using risk assessments and case management tools to design targeted, outcomes‑focused intervention plans.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with experience addressing challenging behaviours using proven behavioural intervention strategies.
- Sound understanding of contemporary correctional practices, with a commitment to offender rehabilitation and reducing reoffending.
- Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary teams to provide cohesive, person‑centred case management support.
- Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience in human services or related fields (preferred but not
