The role
Law In Order is seeking experienced Transcriptionists to join our growing Transcription Services team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately converting audio and video recordings into high-quality written transcripts for our legal, government and corporate clients. You’ll work in a professional, technology-enabled environment where accuracy, confidentiality and client service are essential. The role offers flexibility, with Casual opportunities available working from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth or remotely. You’ll be responsible for delivering accurate transcripts within agreed turnaround times, while working to client-specific formatting, quality and confidentiality requirements. You’ll also have the opportunity to use approved technology and AI-assisted tools to improve efficiency while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe audio and video recordings within agreed turnaround times.
- Produce transcripts in accordance with client requirements, templates and style guides.
- Proofread and quality-check transcripts for grammar, spelling, punctuation and formatting.
- Research and verify names, terminology and industry-specific language where required.
- Identify and promptly flag audio quality issues, missing information or technical concerns.
- Meet agreed productivity,
accuracy and turnaround time expectations.
- Respond to transcription-related queries in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist with urgent and priority transcription requests when required.
- Accurately manage work allocation, document submission and workflow updates through company systems.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure information is securely handled in accordance with company procedures.
- Utilise transcription software, digital workflow systems and approved AI-assisted tools to support efficient service delivery.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews, training and coaching activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and transcription best practices.
Who we are looking for
We’re looking for someone who is highly accurate, organised and takes pride in producing quality work. You’ll have excellent written English, strong listening and comprehension skills, and the ability to work efficiently while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
You’ll be comfortable working independently and using technology in your day-to-day work, while also being a collaborative team member who is willing to share knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement.
Confidentiality is critical to this role, so you’ll understand the importance of protecting sensitive information and working in accordance with privacy, security and company requirements.

Experience
- Previous transcription experience.
- Excellent written English, including grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Strong listening and comprehension skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Competent computer and technology skills, including familiarity with transcription software and digital workflow systems.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Understanding of Australian privacy and confidentiality requirements.
- Experience in legal, government, medical, insurance or corporate transcription is desirable.
- Experience in document production or a professional services setting is desirable.
