Business Development Manager | Civil & Infrastructure

Your new employer is an established infrastructure services business with a strong track record across rail, plant, labour and specialist construction projects throughout Australia. The business has a flexible national workforce, more than 100 assets across the group, approximately 40 to 50 items of operational plant, an established estimating team and project capability across Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne and Western Australia.

The business is looking to take that capability into broader civil and infrastructure markets. Opportunities are already developing in the data centre sector, with further potential across renewable energy and transmission infrastructure. You will have the resources and delivery capability to support your conversations with clients, plus the freedom to help shape which opportunities the business pursues.

Working directly with the Managing Director, you will lead the front end of civil projects: building relationships, identifying opportunities, assessing where the business can compete and planning a credible approach to market.

You will develop relationships with clients, head contractors and delivery partners, track upcoming work and help position the business before tenders land. You will work closely with the estimating and operations teams to shape bids, review scope and risk,



coordinate tender inputs and make sound bid decisions.

Once work is secured, you will help plan the delivery approach and hand it over with a transparent understanding of the client’s expectations, commercial commitments, resources and key project risks. Your experience in project delivery will make your bids practical and your relationships credible.

The immediate focus is data centres, where the business already has experience and momentum. As the pipeline develops, there is scope to pursue renewable energy, transmission and broader infrastructure opportunities.

ABOUT YOU

You may be a civil Business Development Manager, Preconstruction Manager or Senior Project Manager who has taken an active role in winning work. What matters is your ability to spot the right opportunities, build trust with clients and turn a potential project into a well-planned, competitive bid.

You bring relationships across civil infrastructure and understand construction well enough to challenge scope, program, methodology and pricing assumptions. You can bring estimators and delivery teams together around a tender and communicate a clear value proposition to the client.

You know when to pursue an opportunity, when to walk away and what needs resolving before committing the business to a bid.
