About The Client Delhi Rocks Preston is an established and growing Indian restaurant located in Preston, Victoria, specialising in authentic Indian cuisine and traditional home-style flavours.

The restaurant is committed to delivering a high-quality dining experience through carefully prepared dishes that reflect the rich culinary traditions of India. Its menu features a diverse range of Indian specialties, with an emphasis on authentic preparation methods, fresh ingredients, consistent quality and traditional flavours. The restaurant is seeking experienced two chefs who can contribute their knowledge and skills to its kitchen team and support the delivery of authentic Indian cuisine to its customers.

Delhi Rocks Preston provides a professional and dynamic workplace for skilled chefs who are passionate about Indian cuisine and committed to maintaining high standards of food preparation and service. The Role This is a full time role with an annual salary set at $80,000 plus superannuation.

The role is based in Preston in VIC. The Responsibilities Your tasks at the restaurant will consist of:

Plan and organise the preparation and cooking of food to ensure efficient and timely meal service. Plan and develop menu items in consultation with restaurant management, taking into account customer demand, ingredient availability and food costs. Prepare and cook a range of Indian dishes, including curries, marinades, masalas, sauces and other menu items.

Monitor the quality of food at all stages of preparation, cooking and presentation to maintain consistent standards.



Estimate food requirements and monitor stock levels of ingredients, raw materials and other kitchen supplies. Order food supplies and other required ingredients and inspect deliveries for quality, quantity and freshness.

Ensure appropriate storage, stock rotation and inventory control procedures are followed. Determine appropriate portion sizes and ensure dishes are prepared in accordance with established recipes, portion-control and presentation standards. Discuss food preparation and service matters with restaurant management, cooks and other kitchen staff.

Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance and training to cooks and food-preparation staff. Allocate and supervise food-preparation and cooking duties according to staff skills and operational requirements. Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared and delivered within required service times.

Assist with food and labour costing and contribute to determining menu pricing. Inspect kitchen equipment and cooking appliances to ensure they are clean, protected and functioning appropriately. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, hygiene and sanitation throughout the kitchen.

Ensure kitchen staff comply with food-safety procedures,



personal-hygiene requirements and workplace safety standards. Liaise with suppliers and distributors and resolve issues relating to food quality, availability and delivery. Assist in selecting, training, mentoring and supervising kitchen staff where required.

Work within the restaurant's approved kitchen budget and assist management in controlling food and operational costs The Requirements: To be considered for the position you must meet the following requirements:

At least Certificate 4 qualifications in commercial cookery Strong food knowledge and skills in authentic Indian cuisine Minimum 12 months of experience as a commercial chef in a restaurant kitchen

Minimum 12 months of experience with cooking curry At least 12 months of experience in preparing advanced marinades, masalas and curry pastes and sauces from scratch Minimum 12 months of experience in preparing Tandoori rub mix from scratch

Must be able to work with proteins like beef, lamb and seafood Experience in adherence to recipe & portion control, as well as ordering and stock control Ability to follow instruction & take direction

Excellent time management and attention to detail Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team

Be available to work on weekends to deal with many customers Position Summary This is a full-time chef opportunity with Delhi Rocks Preston.

The role requires strong practical knowledge of authentic Indian cuisine, experience in curry and tandoori preparation, and the ability to maintain food quality, safety, hygiene and efficient kitchen operations.
