Goosies Sports and Rec Club Position Title: Chef Company: North Mackay Bowls Club Inc (trading as Gooseponds Sports & Recreation Club) Location: North Mackay, QLD 4740 Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 per annum superannuation Employment type: Full-time About the role The chef work to ensure the Club's Catering requirements are met and adhered to.

Ensure standards are met and assist the Head Chef to ensure the catering department is run smoothly and efficiently. Ensure customer’s needs are met and that exceptional levels of customer service are provided. Ensure food safety, food hygiene and safe food handling procedures are adhered to.

Assist Head Chef to effectively develop and innovate menu’s and food offerings. Facilitate and uphold behaviors that promote respect among staff and ensure a smooth and efficient harmonious kitchen. Duties and Responsibilities Meet and exceed established food preparation standards on a consistent basis.

Ensure preparation according to well defined recipes and follows up and discusses ways of constantly improving the cuisine at the property. Assist Head Chef or Chef in charge to provide direction for all day-to-day operations in the kitchen. Provides guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.

Show and treat all staff with respect Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and kitchen staff. Demonstrates honesty, integrity and also leads by example. Improves service by communicating and assisting individuals to understand guest & staff needs, providing guidance, feedback,



and individual coaching when needed.

Delegates as appropriate to develop subordinates to accept responsibility and meet clearly defined goals and objectives. Monitor staffing levels to ensure that operational needs and financial objectives are met. Follows proper handling and correct temperature of all food products.

Ensures all equipment in the kitchen is used in the appropriate safe manner in accordance with local Health department standards. Ensure all preparation is completed in a timely manner Assist with all levels of staff and their duties when required including cleaning Maintain a safe and clean environment at all times Ensure all products are prepared in a consistent manner and meet departmental appearance/quality standards. Ensure proper grooming and hygiene standards for all kitchen staffs.

Ensures all kitchen employees maintain required food handling and sanitation certifications. Ensure proper purchasing, receiving and food storage standards in the kitchen when required Interacts with guests in a respectful manner Actively responds to and handles guest problems and complaints. Maintain Quality levels of receiving, storage, production and presentation of food.

Follows and enforces all applicable safety procedures specified for kitchen and food servers.



Attend the meetings and other administrative sessions. Assist with other duties as reasonably requested.

Minimum Qualifications Food Safety Supervisor's Certificate (HACCP). Relevant trade certificate in Commercial Cookery/Hospitality or equivalent. Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required A minimum of 4 years' post-trade experience.

Sound knowledge of customer service principles and their application in a commercial kitchen and hospitality environment. Working knowledge of the Workplace Health and Safety Act and Food Act, and their practical application to kitchen operations, food handling and staff safety. Proficiency in computer-based stock control systems, along with general computer literacy to support ordering, rostering and administrative tasks.

Strong customer liaison and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage guest interactions and resolve concerns professionally. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including clear and legible handwriting for kitchen documentation, dockets and handover notes. Experience managing budgets and costing goods, including monitoring food costs and controlling wastage to support financial performance.

Robust human relations and team leadership skills, with the ability to guide, motivate and develop kitchen staff. A professional, trustworthy and well-presented approach, combined with strong time management, self-motivation and a positive, courteous manner when engaging with guests and colleagues.
