About the role

Hanlons is expanding its Engineering team in Tamworth and is looking for a Civil Engineer or Civil Designer. You may have 2–5 years of practical Civil Engineering or Civil Design experience, be progressing through relevant tertiary education, or have developed your capability through a combination of work and study. If you're looking for more project variety, greater responsibility, access to experienced senior Engineers and the opportunity to work across multiple areas of Civil Engineering, this could be your next move.

Key responsibilities

- Work on Civil Engineering projects including roads and pavements, subdivisions and land development, stormwater and drainage, hydrology and hydraulic design, water and sewer infrastructure, rail infrastructure, open channels and detention basins, development and planning-related engineering, site investigations and construction support, and project and contract management
- Contribute to design and drafting across multidisciplinary projects
- Perform engineering calculations and technical documentation
- Participate in design review and verification
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team across different projects, disciplines and stages of project delivery
- Develop project and client management skills as your capability grows
- Engage with clients and contribute to project delivery and technical advice
- Mentor others as your responsibility increases

About you

- Civil Engineer with a few years' practical experience, or Civil Designer with approximately 2–5 years' design or industry experience




- Graduate Civil Engineer ready for broader project exposure, or working in Civil Engineering or Civil Design while completing relevant tertiary studies
- Strong practical Civil Design capability with willingness to continue developing qualifications
- Experience, education or exposure across civil design and drafting, roads and pavements, subdivisions and land development, stormwater and drainage, hydrology and hydraulics, water and sewer infrastructure, rail or other infrastructure, engineering calculations and technical documentation, design review and verification, or civil design, CAD, hydrology or hydraulic software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Practical problem-solving ability
- Good attention to detail
- Effective time management and organisational skills
- Collaborative approach to working within a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to ask questions, learn and keep developing
- Australian Class C Driver Licence
- Australian working rights
- Ability to pass a Cat3 Medical
