Operations Research and GenAI Consultant

You are passionate about developing Operations Research (OR) and Generative AI (GenAI) solutions and would like to help major global companies optimise their processes. AWS Professional Services helps AWS customers accelerate the use of OR and GenAI to solve business and operational challenges and drive innovation within their organisations. Operations Research and GenAI Consultants understand customer business issues, analyse them, and summarise solutions. They build these solutions, using OR tools and AI as a core component to solve the customer issues. They also work with teammates such as AI Engineers and Application Developers to bring these solutions to a production-ready level. They are passionate about setting innovative goals and providing technical solutions to achieve them.

Key job responsibilities

- Accurately understand the customer's business challenges and needs, structure the problems, and organise them as business requirements.
- Extract the IT requirements necessary to realise the business requirements and select candidate optimisation algorithms. Work with specialist roles in related technical fields to build and verify OR solutions, and help develop an architecture that combines the necessary AWS services for achieving the customer's goals.
- Assist customers on developing OR and GenAI projects from start to finish, providing technical sales support, conducting exploratory data analysis, building and validating OR and/or GenAI solutions, deploying validated solutions on their supporting infrastructure, and providing training to customers.
- Collaborate with ML Engineers,



Cloud Architects and Application Developers to build a production-ready OR or GenAI solution.
- Work with a wide range of IT tools, including AWS services (for example Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker, Amazon AgentCore, Amazon EKS), Git and Docker, as well as a range of OR and GenAI frameworks such as Strands-Agents, PyTorch, OR-Tools and others.

Basic qualifications

- Experience with AWS or cloud technologies
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in fields such as operations research, applied mathematics, mathematical optimisation, industrial engineering, or a related quantitative discipline
- Three to five years of experience as an operations research scientist or optimisation specialist, with experience building mathematical optimisation models such as linear programming, integer programming, constraint programming, and leveraging AI/GenAI for solution development

Preferred qualifications

- Master's degree or above in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Optimisation, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, or related fields
- Deep technical skills and business savvy, able to collaborate with a wide range of clients, from executives to engineers
- Skills in designing experimental frameworks to iteratively develop and validate optimisation and GenAI solutions, including the ability to determine cause-and-effect relationships using baselines and counterfactual analysis
- Experience consulting with customers including internal departments
- Familiarity with optimisation solvers and/or simulation frameworks
- Experience applying heuristic methods to large-scale real-world problems
