The Opportunity

This role is ideal for a tax professional with 3+ years' tax experience who wants to make tax advisory the focus of their career. In this role you will enjoy 100% advisory work.

You will work across a broad range of technically interesting matters, providing practical and commercially focused advice to our clients while working closely with and being mentored by the Managers.

Your Responsibilities

- Conduct research into tax legislation, case law and ATO guidance.
- Advise on a broad range of tax matters, including income tax, GST, international tax, corporate tax, NSW land tax, NSW payroll tax and NSW stamp duty.
- Provide advice on business restructures, succession planning and other strategic tax matters.
- Liaise with the ATO and other external stakeholders regarding ATO audits, ongoing compliance reviews, Private Binding Rulings (PBRs) and tax governance frameworks.
- Assist Managers and Directors with the preparation of written tax advice, including advice letters and client correspondence.
- Provide tax advisory expertise to other members of the firm on matters including IDS reviews, complex tax compliance queries and ad-hoc tax matters.
- Keep up to date with changes and developments across the tax landscape.
- Contribute to team and firm-wide initiatives,



with recent examples including reviews of trustee resolutions and AML/CTF obligations.
- Assist with and mentor junior team members, including conducting internal training sessions.
- Participate in ongoing technical training across areas including tax, accounting, estate planning and succession.
- Manage client budgets, billing and debtor management on a monthly basis.

About You

We're looking for someone who is genuinely interested in developing a career in tax advisory and who has:

- A minimum of 3 years' relevant tax experience, including some prior advisory exposure. Or you could have previous experience in business services with a strong tax background.
- Experience working with private clients and privately owned businesses.
- Exposure to tax consolidation and international tax.
- Strong technical research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to communicate complex tax issues clearly and provide practical, commercially focused advice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience within a Big 4, mid-tier accounting firm or tax/law firm is preferred.
- A CTA, Masters of Tax or CA qualification would be highly regarded but is not essential. A law degree would also be advantageous but is not a prerequisite.
