About The Team The Endocrine and Diabetes Research Unit is a multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving outcomes for people living with endocrine conditions through high-quality clinical research. The unit supports a broad portfolio of investigator-led and collaborative studies across diabetes, growth and puberty disorders, thyroid disease, bone disorders and other endocrine conditions

About The Role The Clinical Research Nurse plays a pivotal role within the Endocrine and Diabetes Research Unit, providing expert coordination and delivery of clinical research studies across a range of endocrine conditions. The role includes participant screening, recruitment, education, and ongoing support, as well as the safe conduct of study visits in accordance with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice, and ethical requirements. Working closely with investigators, clinical teams, and external sponsors, the Clinical Research Nurse ensures research activities are seamlessly integrated into routine clinical care while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety, data quality, and participant experience.

The role also contributes to protocol development, data collection, regulatory compliance, and the promotion of a positive research culture within the clinical service.





The Clinical Research Nurse Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate and deliver investigator-led and sponsored clinical research studies across endocrine and diabetes conditions
- Screen, recruit, consent, and educate research participants in line with approved protocols
- Conduct study visits, clinical assessments, sample collection, and study-related procedures
- Provide ongoing support and education to participants and families throughout the study lifecycle
- Ensure participant safety, including monitoring, reporting, and escalation of adverse events
- Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality study documentation and data entry
- Ensure compliance with ethical approvals, governance requirements, and GCP standards
- Liaise with investigators, clinical teams, sponsors, and research governance offices
- Support protocol development, feasibility assessments, and study start-up activities
- Contribute to audits, monitoring visits, and reporting requirements
- Promote a positive research culture within the Endocrine and Diabetes service
