The Story

Our client is a leading publicly listed consumer business undertaking a significant, multi-year technology transformation across the Group.

With a large and complex technology environment spanning legacy infrastructure, Azure and AWS, the organisation is embarking on an ambitious cloud modernisation journey, with a strong focus on migrating and modernising workloads into AWS.

To support this transformation, they’re looking for an experienced Cloud Transformation Lead to join the team for a three-year transformation journey. This is a genuine opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering a group-wide cloud transformation, helping move the organisation from strategy into tangible outcomes.

Based in Melbourne CBD with a hybrid working arrangement, this role will sit at the centre of the transformation; working across technology teams, business stakeholders, AWS and external delivery partners to keep the program moving and ensure the right outcomes are delivered.

The Role

This is a hands-on transformation leadership role, with around 30% of your time spent in the detail. You’ll need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves, getting into the technology and working through complex migration challenges rather than operating solely at a strategic or governance level.

You’ll take ownership of the cloud transformation pipeline, working across VMWare/AWS/Azure and on-prem environments to identify, assess, prioritise and progress workloads for migration and modernisation, with a particular focus on moving workloads into AWS.

You’ll work closely with the organisation’s technology teams, who will have primary responsibility for delivery, while you provide the technical leadership, coordination, governance and momentum required to ensure the transformation progresses successfully.

Key responsibilities will include

- Leading the group-wide cloud transformation across AWS, Azure, VMWare and on-prem environments, with a strong focus on AWS migration and modernisation.
- Taking workloads from initial discovery and assessment through migration planning,



execution and operational readiness.
- Getting hands-on with technical challenges, workload assessments, migration planning, dependencies and solution considerations.
- Building and maintaining a prioritised cloud migration roadmap and pipeline.
- Working closely with infrastructure, cloud, applications, architecture, cyber security, service management and other technology teams to coordinate delivery.
- Providing proven technical leadership across large and complex enterprise transformation initiatives, without direct people-management responsibility.
- Managing and coordinating AWS, migration and technology vendors, ensuring delivery partners are aligned to scope, quality, timelines and commercial outcomes.

You’ll be working across a broad and complex enterprise workplace, so the ability to bring different technology teams and vendors together, create clarity and drive outcomes through influence will be critical. What You Bring To The Role

We’re looking for a seasoned technology transformation professional who has successfully led large-scale cloud transformation and migration programs within complex enterprise environments. It is essential you have run both operational and project delivery.

You’ll have experience across AWS, Azure and legacy/on-premises technology environments, with a proven track record of taking workloads through assessment, planning, migration and modernisation.

AWS experience is particularly important, as the organisation is undertaking a significant migration program into AWS.

You will be comfortable to scope unknown environments, identify what can move, and determine the “where, what and how” independently.

You’ll ideally bring

- 10+ years’ experience across technology, cloud,



infrastructure, applications or transformation, including significant cloud migration experience.
- Background progressing from systems engineering into senior engineering and technical-lead roles.
- Proven delivery of major migration and transformation programs, with experience spanning both operations and projects.
- Strong hands-on experience across AWS, Azure and vmware/on-premises environments.
- Demonstrated experience migrating and modernising workloads, ideally with significant AWS migration experience.
- A genuine willingness to be hands-on, with approximately 30% of the role focused on getting into the detail and working through technical challenges.
- Proven technical leadership experience; this is not a people-management role, but you will need to be comfortable leading technical outcomes across multiple teams without direct authority.
- Strong experience working across infrastructure, cloud, applications, architecture, cyber security and other technology functions to deliver enterprise transformation.
- Significant vendor and delivery partner management experience, including managing scope, performance, dependencies, commercial outcomes and delivery expectations.
- Highly developed stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to work with senior technology leaders and distributed delivery teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to facilitate workshops, navigate ambiguity and turn complex technical issues into clear decisions and actions.
- A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset and the ability to balance strategic objectives with the realities of enterprise technology environments.

Above all, you’ll be someone who can bridge the gap between strategy, technology and execution, comfortable getting into the detail when required, leading through influence, managing vendors and keeping a large-scale transformation moving.
