About the role

Real Steel Group is seeking a qualified and experienced CNC Machinist to join our precision machining team in Queanbeyan. We manufacture high-quality, high-tolerance components for a range of engineering applications and are looking for a skilled machinist who takes pride in producing accurate, quality work. The role involves the programming, setting and operation of CNC machinery, working from detailed engineering drawings and specifications to manufacture precision components from start to finish.

This is a full-time position suited to an experienced tradesperson with technical skills, excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.

Key responsibilities

- Programming, setting and operating CNC machines

- CNC milling and/or turning of precision components

- Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings and specifications

- Selecting appropriate tooling and preparing materials for machining

- Monitoring machining operations and making adjustments where required

- Inspecting finished components to ensure specified tolerances and quality requirements are met

- Using precision measuring equipment, including vernier calipers and micrometers

- Identifying and resolving machining and quality issues

- Completing relevant production and quality assurance documentation





- Performing routine machine maintenance and keeping machinery and work areas in good working order

About you

- A recognised Machinist trade qualification

- Demonstrated experience as a CNC Machinist in a manufacturing or engineering environment

- Experience in CNC programming, setting and operation

- CNC milling and/or turning experience
- The ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings

- Experience using precision measuring equipment, including vernier calipers and micrometers
- A sound understanding of machining tolerances and quality requirements

- Strong numerical, technical and problem-solving skills

- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
- A strong commitment to workplace safety
