CNC Machinist – Horizontal Boring Mill / CNC Mills

Our client is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join there manufacturing team in Adelaide. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced machinist to work with precision machinery, producing high-quality components for established clients across South Australia.

You’ll be responsible for setting up, programming and operating CNC horizontal boring mills and CNC milling machines, ensuring every component is manufactured accurately and to the required specifications and tolerances.

Key Responsibilities

- Set up and operate CNC horizontal boring mills and milling machines to produce precision-engineered components.

- Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures and work-holding equipment.

- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions.

- Program machines and make adjustments to achieve required tolerances and finish.

- Measure and inspect components using micrometres, verniers/callipers, gauges and other precision measuring equipment.

- Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning and basic servicing.

- Identify machine issues and carry out minor troubleshooting and adjustments.

- Maintain accurate production, inspection and quality records.

- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.

- Maintain a clean, organised and efficient work area.

- Work closely with supervisors and other team members to meet production schedules and quality requirements.

About You

We’re looking for a reliable and technically capable machinist who takes pride in producing high-quality work.

You will ideally have

- A recognised Trade Certificate in Fitting & Machining, Engineering – Mechanical Trade, or equivalent qualification.

- Proven experience operating CNC horizontal boring mills and/or CNC milling machines in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.





- Sound knowledge of CNC machining and precision measurement techniques.

- Experience using micrometres, verniers/callipers, gauges and other inspection equipment.

- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform basic machine troubleshooting.

- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining tight tolerances.

- The ability to work independently as well as contribute effectively to a team.

- Good communication skills and the ability to follow procedures and instructions.

- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

- A reliable, punctual and professional approach to work.
