Australia's coastline faces mounting pressure from climate change, development and competing demands on its resources — yet the country has never had a truly national system for understanding it. CoastRI is changing that: a cross-NCRIS collaboration building the data and infrastructure needed to help predict and manage the risks and opportunities facing our coasts, for the benefit of communities, industry and the environment.

We're looking for a CoastRI Project Coordinator to provide coordination and secretariat support across this multi-organisation initiative, working closely with the AuScope CEO and the Director of IMOS. You'll help keep a complex, high-profile national program running smoothly — on time, on budget, and well understood by the partners and stakeholders who rely on it.

What you'll do

- Coordinate project governance across CoastRI's partner organisations, supporting scientific and advisory committees and keeping actions on track
- Provide secretariat support to the CoastRI Advisory Board — agendas, minutes and follow-up on decisions
- Monitor performance against milestones and budgets, and contribute to progress reports, business plans and communication materials




- Organise conferences, workshops and events that showcase CoastRI's work and build community
- Partner with the IMOS and AuScope Communications teams to grow awareness of CoastRI's research capability

What you'll bring

- A relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience, in science, research management or a related field
- Experience coordinating projects in a research, university or multi-stakeholder workplace
- Secretariat or governance support experience — minute-taking, action tracking, committee support
- Strong written communication skills across reports, briefings and stakeholder-facing materials
- A track record of organising events or workshops, and excellent stakeholder engagement skills
- The ability to juggle competing priorities independently

Experience with the NCRIS landscape or coastal, marine or earth observation research is a plus, but not essential. This is a rare chance to help shape national coastal research infrastructure from the ground up, working alongside some of Australia's leading research organisations.
