About Byron Biochar
Byron Biochar supplies Australian-made biochar, wood vinegar and biochar kilns to farmers, horticulturists, landscapers, councils and commercial operators. We broker bulk biochar supply, sell the Native Series of Australian-made deep-cone kilns (Wattle, Banksia and Ironbark models, from hobby-farm to commercial scale), and run workshops and consultancy for people getting started with biochar. It's a growing market with real demand, and we're looking for someone to help us reach more of it.
The role
We're after a self-driven sales and marketing operator who can find and close deals. You might generate leads, close them, or both — whatever plays to your strengths. You'll work independently, set your own hours, and be backed by a principal with deep technical knowledge of biochar and the industry, who can support you on technical questions, pricing and supply.
Typical buyers include
- Farmers, graziers and horticultural growers
- Nurseries, landscape suppliers and soil blenders
- Rural merchandise stores and co-ops
- Councils, land managers and revegetation projects
- Commercial and on-farm operators looking to make their own biochar
What you'll earn This is a commission-only role with an uncapped upside. You receive 50% of Byron Biochar's margin on every sale you bring in:
- Biochar and wood vinegar:
our margin is 30%, so you earn half of that on every order, including repeat orders from customers you bring in
- Kilns: you receive 50% of Byron Biochar's share of the kiln margin
Bulk biochar orders can run to full truckloads and beyond, so a few good accounts can add up quickly. About you
- A proven track record in sales, business development or account management; B2B or agricultural sales is a big plus
- Comfortable prospecting, picking up the phone, and closing
- Self-motivated and organised, able to work remotely without supervision
- Existing networks in agriculture, horticulture, landscaping or rural supply are highly valued
- An interest in sustainability, soil health or regenerative agriculture
- An ABN (you'll be engaged as an independent contractor)
What you'll get
- A genuine 50/50 split on the margin, with no cap
- Flexible schedule, fully remote
- Product training and technical backup
- The chance to build income in an emerging industry that's still early in its growth
To apply Send a short note about your sales background and any relevant networks or industries you already work in. Shortlisted applicants will have an informal chat with Don Coyne, Principal, Byron Biochar.
