You’ll lead day-to-day ecosystem engagement, run high-impact events, and manage our co-working environments and network connections across Australia’s clean energy sector. About the Role
As EnergyLab’s Community Manager (6-month fixed-term sabbatical cover), you will step into a pivotal role managing, nurturing, and growing our vibrant community of clean energy and climate tech startups, alumni, investors, mentors, and ecosystem partners.
Hitting the ground running, you will lead day-to-day ecosystem engagement, oversee our events and co-working environments, and keep communication channels flowing. You will ensure EnergyLab continues to deliver high-value connections, events, and networking opportunities across our diverse network of supporters and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engage with clean energy and climate tech entrepreneurs and the industry to build EnergyLabs relationships with and understanding of the founder and entrepreneur community.
2. Liaising with the EnergyLab Program Leads to coordinate and manage EnergyLab’s startup alumni to create engagement and facilitate sharing and learning amongst the alumni community.
3. Recruit new community members
4. Run regular public and member-only events
5. Assist EnergyLab’s marketing efforts, including creating, editing and distribution of newsletters and building our profile on social media.
6. Ensure our offices and coworking spaces are vibrant and run smoothly
7. Ensure the community related elements of our website and social media presence is engaging and up to date.
8. Manage our digital community channels (such as Slack) to create an easy high quality, valuable and engaging experience for community members.
About You
- Proven Experience:
You bring 5+ years of experience across community management, event execution, stakeholder communications, and project coordination - even better if it's within the startup, climate tech, or innovation ecosystem.
- Impact-Driven: You are motivated by purpose and eager to apply your skills in an organisation driving real solutions to the global climate crisis.
- Natural Relationship Builder: Whether in person, over Zoom, on the phone, or via email, you build genuine rapport effortlessly across diverse groups - from early-stage founders to high-profile investors and corporate partners.
- Calm Under Pressure & Highly Organised: You excel at event logistics and day-to-day coordination. If something unexpected pops up, you adapt quickly and get things running smoothly without breaking a sweat.
- Feedback-Oriented & Continuous Learner: You actively seek feedback - positive or constructive - and use it to continuously refine community touchpoints and event execution.
- Cooperative Team Player: You thrive in a supportive team environment, ready to lend a hand to colleagues and genuinely excited to celebrate the wins of others.
- Tech-Savvy: You are comfortable navigating modern business tools (G Suite, Slack, Zoom, Calendly, Mailchimp, and CRM systems) and adapt quickly to new software.

Key details
Location: Based in EnergyLab's Sydney headquarters in Haymarket and working remotely from time to time as is suitable for successfully delivering on the requirements of this community focused role.
Reporting to: EnergyLab's CEO, Megan Fisher
Position: Full time (Flexibility to offer a 9 day fortnight or 4 days a week).
