The opportunity

We are seeking psychologists and speech pathologists to work as independent contractors in any region within South Australia. As an independent contractor, you will provide high quality assessments in government schools to help schools and families understand the factors that may be contributing to students' challenges. Comprehensive reports will be provided with assessment results and recommendations to support students' participation and learning.

Speech pathology contractors may also be utilised for intervention services delivered over a maximum period of 15 hours.

AKG Health receives allocations from the Department for Education for the coming term. These are allocated to contractors based on their capacity and preferred travel options. With each allocation we provide completed referral information from the family and school, initial consent from the parent(s), an assessment plan for each student, and a report proforma. We arrange flights, accommodation and hire cars where needed.

This contracting role offers flexible work opportunities. Referrals are typically allocated before the commencement of each school term and can be completed any time during that term, according to your availability. Scheduling of assessments is up to you; they can be completed steadily throughout the term (e.g., one per week all term)



or completed in blocks (e.g., five per week once or twice per term).

You can choose to work close to home or travel to regional areas (all travel time will be paid). The number of assessments may vary, depending on your availability and the requirements of the Department for Education SA, and are not guaranteed.

This work is a great option for professionals looking to supplement other part-time or private work or/and those balancing work and family commitments.

About You

- Psychologist with current General Registration status with AHPRA OR speech pathologist with Speech Pathology Australia membership
- Minimum 3 years' experience conducting standardised assessments relevant to your discipline (i.e., psychoeducational assessments for psychologists, language assessments for speech pathologists)

- Demonstrated knowledge and competence with a variety of assessment tools to meet the needs across different schools
- Strong assessment and report writing skills with attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise, plan and organise workflow to tight timeframes
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong administrative, communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven IT literacy, particularly in common applications including Microsoft Office Word,



email and web usage
- Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check and National Police Check

Please Note

- Candidates are required to have their own assessment tools or have ready access to the same via their own networks, and to provide their own test record forms as required
- Examples of appropriate tools include:
- Psychologists: WPPSI-IV, WISC-V, WIAT-III.
- Speech Pathologists: CELF-P3, CELF-5.

Training and support Training in assessment and report requirements will be provided prior to commencement. Ongoing support is available from our senior clinical team, including case consultation, review of reports, and resources.
