About the Role

SHER is a culturally tailored, specialised domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) behaviour change intervention program for men from migrant and refugee backgrounds who are committed to addressing their use of violence. The program is based in Logan and supports men residing in Logan, Brisbane, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and the Gold Coast.

The Coordinator – Men’s Behaviour Change provides operational and practice leadership in the delivery of the Safe, Healthy and Empowered Relationships (SHER) program.

The role ensures service delivery maintains a clear focus on accountability for the use of violence, prioritises the safety of women and children, applies a gendered understanding of DFSV, and is culturally responsive.

It provides supervision, guidance, mentoring and support to the Facilitator – Men’s Behaviour Change, promoting ethical, accountable and consistent service delivery. The role also works closely with the Women’s Safety Practitioner, who is co-located with SSI’s 99 Steps program, a specialist DFV service.

Key responsibilities include overseeing program delivery, participant assessment, ongoing risk monitoring, group and individual facilitation as required, quality assurance, data collection, reporting and compliance.

The position is responsible for building and maintaining strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including women’s services, victim-survivor supports, child-focused services and referral pathways, to facilitate integrated and coordinated responses to DFSV.

Community engagement and collaborative relationships are also supported to strengthen awareness of the program, promote effective referral pathways and contribute to achieving the objectives and outcomes of SHER.

Key Responsibilities

Service Delivery:

- Coordinate program operations, delivery and facilitation coverage.
- Monitor performance, collect data and complete program reporting.
- Support referral screening, participant intake and group or individual facilitation.
- Build stakeholder partnerships, referral pathways and community engagement.
- Work with the Women’s Safety Practitioner to prioritise the safety of women and children and represent SSI and SHER at relevant forums.

Leadership:

- Supervise and mentor the Facilitator, fostering responsive service delivery.

Compliance and Quality:

- Maintain HSQF accreditation,



manage risk and ensure safe, consistent services in line with organisational policies.

About You You are an experienced, values-driven practitioner with strong knowledge of men’s behaviour change and domestic and family violence interventions. You bring confident group facilitation, risk assessment and stakeholder engagement skills, along with the ability to lead and support others. Culturally responsive and collaborative, you are committed to holding people who use violence accountable while prioritising the safety of women and children.

Essential Criteria

- Tertiary qualification in social work, counselling, psychology, human services or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in a similar program role.
- Experience delivering behaviour change interventions and facilitating programs for men who use domestic and family violence or have complex needs.
- Strong cultural capability and experience working with migrant and refugee communities.
- Sound understanding of the impacts of domestic and family violence on women and children, particularly those from migrant and refugee backgrounds.
- Strong knowledge of risk assessment, motivational interviewing and the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012.
- Proven ability to engage communities, build stakeholder relationships and navigate relevant multicultural-sector policies and programs.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage complex and sensitive situations constructively.
- Flexibility to work outside standard business hours, including at least one afternoon shift per week.
- Desirable: Bilingual and/or bicultural background.
