Turn opportunity into investment, growth and lasting regional impact.
The newly created Coordinator Economy and Investment role brings together economic development, investment attraction and commercial property. You will help unlock strategic land and investment opportunities, support business and industry growth, and strengthen Wellington Shire's position as a place to invest and do business.
This is a role for someone who can see the bigger picture and make things happen - working with investors, developers, businesses and government to progress complex opportunities from early conversations through to delivery.
You will also lead a skilled and passionate team, shape high-profile projects and provide advice that influences long-term economic, employment and community outcomes.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Economic Development, you will:
· Turn Council's Economic Development Strategy into practical programs, partnerships and measurable outcomes.
· Position Wellington Shire as investment-ready by promoting opportunities and facilitating investor, developer and major project enquiries.
· Lead business enablement and industry development initiatives that support growth, retention, innovation and economic resilience.
· Activate strategic land, industrial precincts and development-ready sites, supported by strong commercial and economic evidence.
· Provide strategic oversight of Council's commercial property portfolio, including leasing, licensing, acquisitions, disposals and portfolio performance.
· Build strategic partnerships, advocate for infrastructure and funding priorities, and provide high-quality advice to Council and Executive Management.
· Lead and develop the Business and Investment team, manage budgets and performance, and connect work across Council.
About You
You are a strategic thinker and practical operator who can recognise an opportunity, test its value and bring the right people together to progress it. You will bring:
· Demonstrated experience in economic development, business development,
investment attraction and/or commercial property. This professional background is essential.
· Sound knowledge of commercial property, leasing and licensing, strategic land or property development principles.
· Commercial acumen and the ability to navigate investment and development processes across government and the private sector.
· Experience progressing complex projects, business cases or funding proposals using sound analysis, evidence and judgement.
· Strong influencing and relationship skills across businesses, investors, developers, industry, government and internal teams.
· Proven leadership of professional staff, with the ability to set direction, build capability and create an accountable, supportive culture.
· Strong financial, reporting and governance capability, relevant tertiary qualifications and a current Victorian driver's licence.
