Grounds Assistant / Crushing Plant Trainee

Mansfield Crushing is looking for a motivated, hands-on person to join our team as a Grounds Assistant / Crushing Plant Trainee.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, getting their hands dirty and learning how things work. We are looking for someone who is keen to learn, mechanically minded and interested in building a long-term career in the crushing and quarrying industry.

You don't need to have extensive crushing experience — we're more interested in finding the right attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn.

About the Role

Initially, this role will involve supporting the crushing crew with general labouring and site duties while learning the operation of our mobile crushing and screening equipment.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

- General labouring and grounds maintenance around the crushing site
- Fueling and greasing mobile plant and equipment
- Assisting operators with general plant and site duties
- Completing smoko and lunch-time chop-outs to keep production moving
- Keeping work areas clean, tidy and organised
- Assisting with basic maintenance and housekeeping
- Learning how the crushing and screening plant operates
- Working alongside experienced operators and watching, learning and building your skills
- Assisting with basic fault finding and understanding plant operation over time
- Following all site safety procedures and maintaining a strong safety focus

Travel & Flexibility

Travel is an essential part of this role.

As our crushing operations move between projects,



the successful applicant needs to be flexible and willing to travel to different sites for coverage and project requirements.

Our work can include new and existing sites in and around Dubbo, as well as regional NSW, so no two projects are necessarily the same.

We are looking for someone who enjoys variety, is adaptable and is happy to go where the work takes them.

The Chance to Progress

This isn't intended to be a labouring role forever.

For the right person, there is a genuine opportunity to learn the crushing plant from the ground up, develop your operating skills and progressively take on more responsibility.

As your knowledge and experience develops, the goal is for you to eventually be capable of operating and supervising the plant when required, including stepping up in the absence of the usual Plant Supervisor.

We're looking for someone who wants to build a career, not simply turn up, do a job and go home.

About You

You will ideally have

- A robust work ethic and a willingness to get stuck in
- A hands-on and practical approach
- An interest in machinery, crushing, quarrying or heavy equipment
- A mechanical mindset and an interest in learning how things work
- The physical fitness to work outdoors and perform labouring duties
- A willingness to learn from experienced operators
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team




- A positive attitude and willingness to take direction
- The initiative to eventually take responsibility and lead others
- A farming, agricultural, earthmoving, construction or similar hands-on background would be highly regarded
- Experience operating an excavator or loader would be highly regarded, particularly as these skills will assist with completing smoko and lunch-time chop-outs and supporting the crushing operation
- Previous experience around mobile plant or heavy machinery would be an advantage

Previous crushing experience is not essential. We're looking for the right person with the attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn to develop into the role.
