A regulated trustee, fund administration and family office platform is seeking a General Counsel to act as senior legal advisor to the family office and its principals, building and leading the legal function that supports private wealth, estate planning, cross-border investment and the commercial affairs of the office and its underlying businesses.

A regulated trustee, fund administration and family office platform is seeking a General Counsel to act as senior legal advisor to the family office and its principals, building and leading the legal function that supports private wealth, estate planning, cross-border investment and the commercial affairs of the office and its underlying businesses.

Key Responsibilities: n

n
- Develop and implement the legal support platform for wealth management, estate planning, and the establishment of overseas/offshore investment vehicles
n
- Advise on complex transactions, mergers and acquisitions, investments and new ventures across the family's interests
n
- Provide commercial counsel on the dealings of the family office and its operating businesses
n
- Oversee and manage litigation and dispute resolution to protect the family's interests
n
- Guide philanthropic strategy,



ensuring legal and tax-productive structures for charitable giving and family foundations
n
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, including tax, securities, trust and estate planning law, and AFSL obligations (working alongside the Compliance Manager)
n
- Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks, including conducting risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies and governance
n

Skills and Experience nn
- Admitted legal practitioner with a current practising certificate
n
- 5+ years' post-admission experience, ideally combining private practice and in-house, with exposure to family office, private wealth, funds or M&A;
n
- Demonstrated ability across cross-border structuring, trusts and estate planning, and tax-aware structuring
n
- Experience managing external counsel and litigation; comfort operating as the sole/senior lawyer in a lean team
n
- A trusted, discreet advisor style, commercially sharp and protective of the family's reputation, fluent across wealth, tax, corporate, disputes and philanthropy, with a pragmatic risk lens suited to a global, high-risk group and a track record of building function and process, not just advice.
