Zenergy is partnering with an established renewable energy contractor to recruit an experienced HSE Manager for a major utility scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in regional New South Wales.

n

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior safety professional with experience across renewable energy, electrical infrastructure or major construction projects to play a key role in the safe delivery of critical energy infrastructure.

About the Role n

Reporting to senior project leadership, you will take responsibility for the implementation and management of HSE requirements across construction, commissioning and project handover.

n

Working closely with project teams, subcontractors and client representatives, you will provide hands-on HSE leadership, ensuring high-risk activities are effectively managed and project safety and environmental standards are maintained throughout delivery.

n

This position will suit an experienced HSE Manager who enjoys being present in the field, engaging with construction teams and driving positive safety outcomes across complex project environments.

Key Responsibilities n

n
- Provide visible, field-based HSE leadership and promote a proactive safety culture across the project.
n
- Implement and maintain project HSE management systems, safety plans and environmental controls.
n
- Lead inspections, audits, critical-control verification and corrective action management.
n
- Oversee high-risk construction activities, including mobile plant, excavation, working at heights and electrical/HV works.
n
- Manage subcontractor HSE performance,



compliance and ongoing assurance activities.
n
- Coordinate incident investigations, emergency preparedness and response arrangements.
n
- Maintain HSE reporting, registers and compliance documentation.
n
- Liaise with project stakeholders, client representatives and regulatory bodies on HSE matters.

About You nn
- Diploma or tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety or equivalent.
n
- Demonstrated experience as a site-based HSE Manager across major construction, infrastructure or EPC projects.
n
- Experience across utility-scale BESS, solar, renewable energy, substations or transmission projects highly regarded.
n
- Strong understanding of NSW WHS legislation and environmental compliance requirements.
n
- Experience managing high-risk construction activities, contractor assurance and critical safety controls.
n
- Demonstrated capability in incident investigations, emergency preparedness, inspections and audits.
n
- Robust communication, reporting and stakeholder management skills.
n
- Construction White Card, current Australian driver's licence and first aid qualification.
n
- Full Australian working rights.
n
